It was a penalty and deserved to be flagged.  He should be fined.  He should be suspended.

The question is for how long.  Minimum of 1 game IMO.  Justice would be 1 game longer than Trevor is out.

But that's just my opinion.

As to the questions about a QB along the sidelines.  I think knocking them OOB should be no different than any other player.

That's completely different than sliding.  Once again, IMO.

First, I hated to see Lawrence hurt like that, as I'm sure everyone did, and hope for a full & fast recovery.

When the hit 1st happened, my reaction was the same as everyone else.  Dirty. Unnecessary.  I was kind of angry.

But then the entire NFL community goes into self-righteous mode about a play in a game that is inherently violent.  We all watch replays countless times in slo-mo, and think that players who are playing the game at a high speed can adjust on a dime. And there is also the consideration that some QB's try to game the rules around sliding a bit, and trick defenses.  That slide yesterday did appear to be one that was started late, after or simultaneous to the defender positioning for the hit.

Obviously, the NFL has to protect QB's.  The hit WAS unnecessary - but I think the reaction against the player has been over the top.  If a player has a pattern of illegal hits & dirty play, that's a different story.

I just hate how this stuff gets so black & white, and people turn into villains instantly.

It was intentional & dirty as hell.  The players has pulled crap before, he needs to be suspended for awhile.

Was it dirty. Yeah probably.

Was it illegal. Yes

But it's not a good precedent to where it's the defenders responsibility to protect the QB. It's the QBs responsibility....

Regardless it was too far past the line and disrespectful. I've seen worse tho. I saw ray seals and Joel steed literally pick Jim Kelly up and slam him on his head on Monday night football in 1994. WWF style

Not great bob

You must be blind. That hit would have made Burfict proud.

Bottom line is this:  he could have hit Lawrence, but he didn't have to go in with the forearm shot as he did.  Using the forearm shot shows intent to injure.  No other way around it.

I remember that game, it was pure home cooking BS by the refs all night.  Kelly and Beebe getting hurt was BS.  I thought Beebe was going out on a stretcher after that hit.

Yup. Greg Lloyd would purposely try to hurt your QB with late dirty hits. Complete mental wack job.

Chad Brown was a POS too 😡. When he went to Seattle he tried to hurt peerless price in 2000 last game of the year. Chad Brown was another wack job

I compare it to what someone like Gronk (now America's cute, lovable frat brother) did to Tre.  That was as dirty as dirt gets - premeditated, retaliatory, intentional.

This was a guy who made a very poor split-second decision - but it WAS split-second.

Did anyone get that Gronk vibe when Kelce was standing over Bernard after the interception that sealed the KC game? He looked like he was going to get real cheap but thought better of it.

Al-Shaair has a history of being a violent and a willful headhunter that won’t be satisfied until he either does permanent brain damage or kills someone. He should be suspended for the rest of the season and put on notice that one more dirty hit to a defenseless QB sliding to protect themselves and he’s out of the league.
