WideNine Posted December 5 Posted December 5 If anyone hit Allen like that or tried to give him the business I would expect Spencer Brown would channel his inner Kyle Turley defending his QB. From what I have seen on the field Brown has some dog in him. Forever my all time favorite clip of an O lineman going into berserker mode protecting his QB. 1 Quote

It was forearm (with brace) to the helmet, a forearm that he deliberately raises and leads with. As others have said, he has time to at least mitigate the hit but, instead, he changes his angle of attack, raises the forearm and dives in. He knew exactly what he was doing. I finally saw the other angle yesterday after this to see it was the elbow which makes it even worse. A forearm vs helmet is silly. Helmet wins. QBs need to be smarter. Tom Brady is a pompous douche and should jump off a cliff but he was 100% spot on with this putting responsibility on the QB. If it. Extremely late.. in addition to the choke on Brady. Then this on TL with a clear forearm. IMHO this one was the least egregious of the three. But it was cheap and looks like he could have adjusted. As far as QB’s sliding the only thing that can be done is to flag fake slides. But that brings more objective reffing which I think will be problematic. And we can all see KC getting no flag but let’s say the Raiders get it. It is a very challenging situation for D players. But I think for the most part they adjust and make the no hit. This guy, his coach, and the GM are becoming an embarrassment with the victim spin. The Texans have become a bit over the top on and off the field. And they have lost credibility. Just because he has before doesn't mean he did this time. Lawrence left himself exposed against. A guy trying to stop him in a league that celebrates fake slides, fake jumps out of bounds, etc. After princess mahomes faked the out of bounds everyone pushed Collinsworth out of the way to pump his eggplant. After pocket did the fake slide last year people debated it and no one punished him. These guys are competitive football players. Not soccer players. They are going to play hard and not dance around like little sissies ball kickers flopping around. Quote

If Allen gets a cheap shot anything close to this during our super bowl run, id expect a full bench clearing brawl and probably a major delay in the game. Spencer Brown or Anderson would destroy whoever tried that 1 Quote
LarryMadman Posted December 5 Posted December 5 As dirty as it gets and then his coach coming out and blaming Trevor for his players dirty hit is beyond ludicrous and lost total respect for Ryans. 2 Quote

His actions are what matter. Multiple obvious late hits and then this hit where he could have not used his forearm. Along with a punch and a fight. And his and Texans reaction since playing the fool have not helped. They should have held him accountable for the first two, and the league should have given him one game after the Chicago punch. It’s the worst QB hit since Kiko on Flacco. We can agree on the softness of the league similar to defenseless player hits. But it’s the rule and had been for some time. Adjust or don’t play. Quote

You're absolutely right that Al-Shaair went braced arm to the neck/helmet, and I don't at all see how that was unavoidable to him. By the way, Trevor Lawrence still looks like a horse. I think Tom might be talking as a broadcaster that’s trying for attention and not as a player giving true insight but who knows Quote
