That's weird because he's one of my very favorites.

I used to watch him working with Mayock during the draft way back in the day. He reallllly knew what he was looking at and did his thing with no self-promotion and a lot of smarts and wisdom. A total breath of fresh air when compared to the rest of the media landscape.

From what I've seen of GR is that he is a better part of our somewhat porous run-defending DL... which is very odd, as talent-wise, I have no idea why our run defense seems to suck- coaching????

 

He's a Tenacious pursuer in all aspects of his assignment- total A on the effort, and a solid B grade as a pass rusher.  it's pretty obvious he disrupts plays like a mamajamma and seems to play harder than his results..

 

Anyway, that's what I see in a small nutshell- hope he retires a Bills all-timer

he has been rated as one of the top run defenders for years though.  15 TFLs this year!  Below is a link to a cover 1 article preview that cites PFF stats (not grades cause yuck) as #1 at run stops as a rookie and top 10 the following year.  I think hes been super productive with sacks still lagging a bit (12th out of all DL in pressures, 2nd in QB hits).  Be ready for him to get $25 mil/year this offseason.

 

Why does our run defense "suck"?  I think we dont care about rushing yards between the 20's.  We play nickel and never have 3 LBs on the field (unless a goaline package for a 3rd/4th and short).  So yes its coaching because rushing yards between the 20's are not a priority.  They stiffen up when it gets to the red zone.

I think he was yelling "no" in disbelief and he was very effusive in his praise of Josh during the game.

 

In any case, I don't really care about Collinsworth.  He has some flaws like all humans and some bad takes like all announcers.  But I don't expect any national announcer to know the Bills as well as we do.  

 

The only thing that impacts my state of mind when watching a Bills game on TV is the state  of the play on the field, not the yapping from the box.

Collingsworth might just be the worst, but in general, I can't stand the color commentary watching NFL games on TV. Let the viewers watch the games and form their own opinions. They constantly over talk and treat viewers like two year olds who don't know anything.

I felt like his color commentary of "No! No! Noooo!" was unprecedented in sports history for a play of that magnitude.

 

It's almost like it was a subconscious expression of "please good God no, I don't want Josh Allen making one of the best plays I've ever seen. Please let it be someone else". He then of course diverted the emotions of the moment to Mahomes/Kelce so he would not have to give the glory to Allen. He was awkward the rest of the broadcast, talking about his fantasy football team, his nephew (???), and giving Allen a compliment after the camera cut away from him during the handshakes after the game. Tirico made comments throughout the night subtly calling him out, if you listened closely.

 

What's going on with Collinsworth is that he owns PFF. So he's heavily invested in advanced statistics. Well what do all of the worst 2018 Allen haters have in common? Their egos are invested in advanced stats. Those are the ones that had the worst things to say. So rather than just admitting they made a mistake and will learn from it, Collinsworth tries to downplay Allen throughout Allen's career.

 

This behavior I call "shorting" similar to those who root for stocks to fall. Rather than investing money, they invest emotions and perceived reputation into seeing somebody fail. As that person rises, rather than cut their losses, they play these types of games. 

 

"God will prepare a table for you in the presence of your enemies". That's exactly what happened Sunday night.

Ratings aren't going to go down and may go up if you get rid of him. Wake up and recognize that he is a net negative you dolts.

The only thing most of the highly paid prime time color guys truly know is that a majority of the prime time viewing audience doesn't know much about football, it's casual fans so they can just say whatever they want and it doesn't actually matter. So you get catchphrases and some pet topic(s) they steer everything towards no matter how relevant. Extremely annoying, but it's like death & taxes at this point.
