"Players are voted into the Pro Bowl by the coaches, the players themselves, and the fans. Each group's ballots count for ⅓, or 33.3%, of the votes. Fans vote on their preferred players at NFL.com. Replacements are selected should any selected player be unable to play for injuries, self-withdrawal, or Super Bowl contention. Prior to 1995, only the coaches and the players made Pro Bowl selections."

This just makes me more curious. How do they do the math?

They need to get rid of the fan vote for this.......they can have some other separate thing were fans vote

At this point do we really care who votes for the guys that get to play Nickelodeon football with Payton?...🤔 Paintin'?... Debatin'?... Calculatin'?... Peyton?... yeah, that's it, Peyton and Eli?

I would think that they calculate the percentage for each player per each of the 3 classes (coaches/players/fans), then treat each as an equal third and sum the percentages... or sum the percentages and then divide it by 3.

Kind of tired of all the unwarranted hate Hamlin and to a lesser extent Rapp get around here. We got spoiled for years with Poyer and Hyde. And Rapp and Hamlin aren't as good as Poyer and Hyde were in their prime. I'll grant that

But you know who else wasn't near as good? Poyer and Hyde last year. While Hamlin and Rapp are pretty close to "league average" level players they have been a step up from our safety play last year.

I think the only reason Rapp gets somewhat of hate around here is his way aggressive style and his teammates catching his strays, other than that he has had a few games where he altered the course of the game

Hamlin in the Pro Bowl demonstates it is nothing more than a popularity contest.  In Hamlin's case, more of a sympathy vote.

Yeah….never mind that he’s second on the team in tackles, and has played well this year. But yeah..sympathy vote. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Hamlin isn’t flashy, or a thumper, but he is very steady.

Poyer, overall, is no better at this stage of his career.

Apologies if already mentioned, but he should absolutely get comeback player of the year this season if nothing else

Flacco will win it again. The old statue who won a few games for the Browns last year. Why was anyone impressed with that?

Pro Bowler used to be a meaningful designation.

Now it's just a popularity thing

For sure. My question is who is voting for him? Not trying to be a jerk, especially as a pitt fan, but buffalo fans have seemingly been "irritated" at the exposure last year. That exposure has died down... and while he's been a serviceable vet for us, I don't think he's blown away any fans here.

I'd imagine most other fans are a little sick of the story as well (I don't necessarily agree but also get it)..... soooooo this leaves like Facebook moms voting for him lol do they have really have that much of a push?

They must because I'd venture to say only the most casual fans visit nfl.com. not hyperbole, I doubt I know one fan who's punched that in their browser more than 1-2xs a year.

Tl:dr. Weird rant lol

I mean, he's Our Guy, so it's nice to see Damar getting some loooove, but there must be an element of "I've heard of him".

I feel the same way about a number of the other names.

I visit nfl.com all the time.  They have .pdfs of the box score that give a first-half breakdown.  I also enjoy the highlight clips.  then some of the nexgen stats are cool.

I'm not hanging out there voting for probowl or something.

He has played well for the Bills this year.

There are 64 starting safeties in the league.  The question is, has he played better than 62 of the other starting safeties in the league, that he's leading the pro-bowl voting ahead of them?

It sucks that happens. But also for the few times it has happened it gets blown way out of proportion.  To listen to some people here you would think he does it every game.

After Saffold was chosen as a Pro Bowl alternate in what can only be described as a bottom-5 all time guard season performance, I knew that the entire thing was meaningless.

Ruben Brown would like to have a word with you...

Took you that long to attain Pro Bowl nihilism lol?

He's definitely been SO much more fundamentally sound and responsible with his helmet placement on tackles since suffering the concussion that caused him to don the Guardian Cap. He's really been a plus starter as the season has progressed.

Any sports awards voting schema that includes fans can be nothing more than this.
