Special K Posted Monday at 08:47 PM Posted Monday at 08:47 PM I believe there is a rule that pulling the long hair of a player is legal, but I have never seen anyone actually do it like that. #59 looked stunned that it happened, but didn't seem to complain to the refs about it. I figured there was an unwritten rule by the players not to do it even though it is allowed, but I guess not. Not a big deal, but just thought it was an interesting and unusual moment. 1 Quote
DrDawkinstein Posted Monday at 08:51 PM Posted Monday at 08:51 PM I've never seen an Offensive player do it to a Defender, but have seen a number of long haired RBs and WRs get tackled that way. Would love to see a clip of this if anyone has one. 2 1 Quote
Simon Posted Monday at 08:52 PM Posted Monday at 08:52 PM I'm still not convinced it was intentional. He was blindly reaching for a defender to push away from Allen's path and I think his finger just got caught for a second 4 minutes ago, DrDawkinstein said: I've never seen an Offensive player do it to a Defender, but have seen a number of long haired RBs and WRs get tackled that way. skibum Posted Monday at 10:19 PM Posted Monday at 10:19 PM I still can't believe guys play NFL football with super long hair flying around. It's only a matter of time before it gets yanked, whether by accident or otherwise. Quote

Richard Noggin Posted Monday at 10:25 PM Posted Monday at 10:25 PM Yup. Watched it live, as our seats are looking right down that goal line. No one around me saw it, though. 1 Quote

Yep. I've seen quite a few hair tackles. all legal. But this by Hollins was just dirty ha ha. Let's call it "holding" for rules purposes. 2 1 Quote

nedboy7 Posted Monday at 11:25 PM Posted Monday at 11:25 PM Seems like a smart move. Is this against the rules? Quote

Not illegal to tackle a ballcarrier, but if it was germane to the play and he held it for another second, they could have called him for holding. As it was, that 'backer had no chance of beating Allen to the goalline and Hollins only held it for a split second so it looked like his finger just got accidentally stuck. I think he was probably just having fun messing with a guy that he'd been scrapping with earlier. 1 1 1 1 Quote
Wacka Posted yesterday at 12:57 AM Posted yesterday at 12:57 AM (edited) Edrington (sp?) James of the colts was oe of the first to wear the long dreads in the 80s. Was tackled after a long run by the hair. Complained to the refs but no flag. Next game he had them under a do rag. Edited yesterday at 01:02 AM by Wacka 1 Quote

Seen a few guys been ripped down by their hair in the recent eras; Edgerrin James, Marshawn, Larry Fitzgerald, Troy Polamalu, Marion Barber, Chris Johnson, Torrey Smith, our own Chris Ivory… Theres plenty of instances but those are just off the top of my head. Every guy who’s had dreads that hang past their shoulders has been on the rough end lol 1 Quote
USCGBILLSFAN Posted yesterday at 01:48 AM Posted yesterday at 01:48 AM Cant call that holding or illegal block....so it falls in tbe grey area! Quote
947 Posted yesterday at 02:25 AM Posted yesterday at 02:25 AM Jason Babin ripped a handful of dreads out of Andre Ellington's head during a tackle. I remember another game a few years back where the camera panned to a big dread laying on the field after a play. Quote
716to540 Posted yesterday at 02:52 AM Posted yesterday at 02:52 AM If you look hard enough, a flag could be thrown in any play. Quote
