Or as someone else mentioned - get tickets in the family section, or club section where rowdy behavior is less likely (but still not guaranteed not to happen).  It's not their fault some drunk guy was an a-hole near them and it is unfortunate it happened - but there are some steps you can take to insulate yourself.  Sure in an ideal world going to an NFL game would be like going to Disney World - but that's just not reality - at any NFL stadium.

I started taking my kids to games when they were 7-8 and knew the risks -  explained to them they might see some bad behavior and hear some bad things.  If they had just survived cancer I surely would have thought differently.  We take my Dad who is 90 now to games and only get club seats to shield him from most of the rowdiness.

My biggest problem and what seems to be lost in the reporting is that it 100% is NOT OK to then post a screed on social media with an outrageous lie negatively implicating an entire fanbase (and using your daughter's disease to amp up the reactions)

I know someone who brought their 10 and 8 year-olds to the game and warned them about language.  They started counting the number of “swear words” and there we so many they lost track in the 20’s LOL.

It sounds like the family got the tix from Hope Rises which is the nonprofit charity owned by Channel 4 reporter Kate Glaser.   I too am surprised that they didn’t get them seats in the family section.   Hopefully the charity knows what we all do - the 300 section of a prime time game is probably not an appropriate setting for a family.

Maybe next time a drunk fan won’t just barrel his way through the aisle then and knock an 8 year old girl over on his way to piss and get more beer.

Maybe that never happened…show one quote, statement etc of someone in 312 who witnessed this event, just one person who verifies this story with nothing to gain from it being true.

The only part of that article that disturbed me:

It is odd how Brown is the white knight in this situation.

I’m surprised no sports anchors were like “uh, have you seen some of the things AB has posted over the past two years.”

Hopefully not.

Yes, there are many Neanderthals there.  I've been there.  But there is a large gulf between rushing out for a piss in a cramped, icy, snowy, row/aisle... and assaulting an 8 year old girl (pushing her down the stairs) for wearing the wrong colors.  I do not believe any of us Neanderthals were capable of that, especially in a bills blowout where everyone is happy.

These parents really signed themselves up for the "intense" package here.  Packing their 8 year old cancer survivor in opposing gear, at a night game in a winter storm... sitting right in the thick of things. While I resist the idea that anyone purposely assaulted this girl, I could have told these people ahead of time that they were probably not going to enjoy this experience and have a good time.  I'm sure their nerves were shot and they were highly irritated with everyone around them by the end of the 1st quarter.

yeah right like AB knows anything. there is almost zero chance this happened because if like any fan saw this he would have gotten  his ass beat by an entire section, then the the security guards after that.

Where is dad posting this?  The mom’s account made this seem that it was a targeted attack

Their account is Mikey Sherrie. They have a joint account. A decision couples generally make in the most healthy of circumstances. Lolz

All three major buff stations carried this yesterday and again this morning. Apparently the little girl has bruised ribs. I think the mother story was exaggerated however, the father said that it was a drunk fan barreling his way either down an aisle or a row of seats and made a comment about the 49er fans. The GoFundMe was set up a long time ago because this little girl and apparently her mother have both survived cancer. This was not a new GoFundMe I believe all three stations have it on their Facebook pages also.

They never will, but the Bills need to ban alcohol and refuse entry to those who are obviously intoxicated.

The drunk idiot who knocked that little girl down is VERY lucky.

That actually made me lol...  The fact that this little cute cancer survivor being decked out in 49ers gear, climbing with her parents to the upper decks in 2 feet of snow to sit amongst drunk people.  It's not funny i know, but the visual are just so bizarre.

But for those who actually watched the story on WIVB, the father specifically stated that "a drunk Bills fan said I'm going to push my way through these niners fans", proceeded to bump his son and the dad then pushed Mia who *almost* got knocked down the stairs but hit her side on the chairs which probably didn't feel good.

I have no reason to believe that the dad's account of the events is fabricated.  Although it is weird that some drunk guy would announce that he's going to push his way through Niners fans.  But anyway, I stand by my post from earlier today that the drunk jerk that knocked into this family should be outed and he should publicly apologize to this girl... and for that matter, apologize to the fans for his actions slandering all of the "Mafia" with his stupid actions.

First of, if this does turn out to be true I vehemently apologize for any doubt.

Not saying it did or did not happen but the sad truth of today is you have to gravitate to things being fabricated for benefit, exposure or personal gain. Be that by the person it happened to, the person/outlet reporting it or the reenactment side.

So many things are fake now for social media number driving.

The fact there is nothing being posted by anyone else be it a video, picture or story leads me to put it into question.

How is it the only girl who “beat cancer to attend her first NFL game” is the one who gets “thrown down stairs”.

Out of this they have been guaranteed a “better experience” the next time they visit, a Go-Fund Me and who knows what else. I mean, the mother obviously encouraged the girl to make a sign about her being cancer free and it her first game… 312 isn’t a section for sign holding. Especially one of that size.

If that situation truly happened and it were me and my child? I would be following the fan, finding out where they were sitting, contacting the police immediately to file a report and then suing either them, the team or a combination of both instead.

My hedge of a bet is that someone accidentally bumped into the young girl and, if she did fall, it was only a step or two due to the weather conditions. Anyone who’s been to that stadium or any knows you don’t exactly get spacious amounts of room to pass anyone be it on the stairs or seating row.

IF anything happened like an assault on an 8 year old, the family didn't ask for or deserve it, no.  Not sure where that was implied.

However, better judgement should be used.  If I were to bring my 8 year old to a Metallica concert, I would probably get him ear protection and sit rather far back in a 200 rather-comfortable seated level with quick access to bathrooms and refreshments.  I would not toss him into the pit, nor should I be surprised if something went poorly if I foisted all that on him.

I brought my son to his first game when he was about 8 years old.  It was a mild-weather day and I made sure we got club seats for the game and we paced ourselves.  There were many calculated choices made to keep him from getting overwhelmed in a tense atmosphere.  It was great, and he is 11 now and loves going to games and can handle most situations we encounter, but I am still pretty careful.

It probably wasn't a good time as a family, wearing opposing gear, rooting for the team getting blown out, in a winter storm, in the thick of things in the upper deck.  Even without any of these events that allegedly happened, it was probably not a good time for this family.  There isn't a lot of room in those seats with all the snow, layers, and little personal space to begin with.  Couple all that up with a really boisterous, rowdy crowd, and I am sure these people had enough in the 1st quarter.  Enough where an accidental bump would set them off into a social media rage.  They were likely leaving anyways in a 35-10 game

I'd also love to hear an account from someone who was there.

I can tell you this much; Navigating the stadium was a treacherous endeavor.

Even the floor in the men's room was slick enough to send 2 people to the ground, and that was just water, not packed snow and ice.

It wouldn't surprise me one bit to find out someone slipped and the whole thing was a misunderstanding.

Exactly.  In the story told by the dad, this drunk guy wasn’t a saint.  Everyone gets that accidents happen, especially with the slippery weather.  But this guy wasn’t walking through, saying “excuse me”, apologizing to the girl after bumping her.  If it had been a polite encounter, the family wouldn’t have felt compelled to post about it on Facebook afterward.
