I hope at some point actual evidence surfaces.  At this point the story has changed from she was pushed down stairs to bumped into a seat.  No video has popped up to show anything.  Everyone has said how the steps were very treacherous.  At this point I believe it was an accident not some evil ba$tard.  But the press will always look for the worst in people.

The press is just trying to report the story.  If they wanted to report the worst, they’d gather the perpetrators name and shame him.  But I’m sure they’d give the perpetrator air time if they wanted to say anything about the incident.

After listening to the father and daughter’s interviews, it sounds like they were first being targeted with snowballs in the first half because they were 49er fans by someone behind them.  When they decided to leave at halftime and were on the stairs, a drunk fan said I’m going to push through these 49er fans.  Proceeded to push by the mom and dad, and then also knocked the girl over/down when he went by her.

There are far more good natured Bills fans out there than these idiots.  I told my wife if I was in those stands if security wouldn’t stop those morons at the snowball point, I would’ve.  That’s not talking tough.  That’s my ethics watching a poor little kid being picked on.  So what if she like the 49ers.

You want to G rated heck the family, or just playfully kid when we score, that’s the price when you wear the opponents gear.  Even that is a stretch with an 8 yr old.

im just embarrassed for the elements of the mafia that thinks it’s cool to be distrspectdul to the elderly, or women, or children.  Maybe I’m old school.

I also blame security as they should’ve been instructed to watching out for snowballs at the opposing fans or players.  Throw them out immediately.

It’s so hard to tell because the father’s account in the news was different from the mother’s Facebook post on Sunday night which is what most people reported on.

If they were targeted why didn’t they file a police report - especially when the incident involved yours 8 year-old child?

You would also think that being forced to leave because they were being targeted by snowballs would have been the mom's social media headline.  Not that she was "pushed down stairs section 312" so they had to leave early (when in fact it was some sort of nudge into seats).

As mentioned, in other online venues, people who sat in 312 did not notice any of this stuff, and remember seeing this family.

So because they chose to not file a police report, they’re making up the story?  Maybe they didn’t feel the need to take it that far with the perpetrator, just wanted to get out of there and get home at that point.  I’ve had things happen in my life where I chose to not file a report, for one reason or another.  The father sounds surprised this story has even hit the news.

My impression is they were posting on Facebook about their family’s experience at the game (many people post their experiences on Facebook), and the fact they noted their bad experience including their daughter getting push over has given the story legs.  Now some are thinking this family has ulterior motives, which I don’t believe is the case when I listen to their interviews.

John, you know I like you, but it’s very possible The mom and dad wanted their two time cancer surviving child just to go home and protect her.  As much as a dad I would want to beat the drunk fan up, I’d overarchingly feel compelled to protect my daughter.

What’s sad is this poor kid just wanted to see her team.  I know some bills staff wanted to giver her free tickets, but to me that’s not enough.  Terry should invite this kid into the owners box and make her feel what the good side of Bills fans are like.  Have Josh come up after the game and high fiver her.

I remember when I was 8, I was at a buffalo/Montreal playoff game in the aud.

The French guy behind me pissed his sweat pants. I thought it was awesome

I've told this story before - one of my earliest memories as a young lad attending a Bills game (in the 70s) was walking out dejected after another loss, and there was a guy half passed out, with his arms spread behind him on the seat backs and his legs sprawled on the seats in front, with his dick hanging out pissing all over himself.  Will never forget the dissapointed yet firm tone in my Dad's voice when I paused in amazement and he simply said "Move along son"

I believe that this incident did indeed happen as generally described without quibbling about deliberate pushing.

I also know that there are a-holes everywhere, and there may not be a higher concentration of sporting event a-holes anywhere than in the upper deck at Highmark during Bills games. Other stadium sections probably equal it, but none surpass it.

I never took my 8 year old to a Bills game for this very reason and I certainly wouldn't have taken him to a road game wearing Bills colors.

If I did take my young child to an NFL stadium wearing opposing colors I'd do what it takes to sit in either the family section or club seats.

I went to a few Bills games back in the day when I was 8 or younger and this scene captures my experience accurately:

Exactly. The number of totally wasted and disgusting fans you see at these games is depressing, at the least.

I’m sorry but this has Go Fund Me scam written all over it. This Kate Glaser got some traction with her pre-game post of this cute kid. I don’t think it was completely made up but I think it was seriously embellished by the mom. There has been zero corroboration from anyone else, and several people who were in the same section have posted here and on social media that they noticed nothing. Mom says the kid was pushed down the stairs, I think that’s complete BS. Dad says she was bumped into the seats and almost fell, I can believe that. That’s a HUGE difference in the narrative though and was worth over 30K in donations to the GoFundMe. Scam.

Story has been inconsistent and smells like BS. Snowballs then shoving falling downstairs, then slipping into chair....

In my section, we watched a big drunk guy argue with a smaller drunker guy about touching his chicken fingers. If you asked 10 people from my section they could recount the event in detail.

Why is it then that no one aside from the family has any knowledge, recollection or eyewitness account of this?

Sorry but I'm not buying it when both of the parents accounts differ.  Not to mention, we've all been to games and seen how stupid fans can be, but pushing a kid down the stairs is just a bridge too far for me.

I know it sounds silly, but it does matter that it was a blow out win over a non-conference opponent... I mean fans were in super happy moods, WTF would someone lash out like this?  It makes no sense even for drunks... Usually the snowballs, words, and physical altercations are tied to exchanged words, or a Bills team playing like crap and the fans taking out frustration on opposing fans.  This game and their stories showed non of that ... Just open victimization, which doesn't jive with anything I've seen in my 3+ DECADES as a season ticket holders.

I mean I don't doubt the kid fell, probably bumped by some drunken moron, and I don't doubt it was traumatic.  It was slick as hell with the snow, slipping and falling, bumping into eachother, it's just par for the course.  It's terrible when someone falls and gets hurt, but it does happen.

I have a 6 and 5 year old, I'd be PISSED if it happened to them. But that said, the characterization of bills fans as people who "throw kids down stairs", is just offensive.

Accidents happen, and football games are ruckus places. It's why I don't bring my daughters to more than a preseason game at their age.  It's just too much and too many variables for a little kid.  Odds are good they'll see something, hear something, or see someone do something that is questionable.   It's simply not kid friendly, and if you bring little kids you need to know what your getting in to and work to avoid issues etc.

I'm not blaming the parents, but frankly there was always a chance it'd go bad.  And this poor girl suffered a traumatic event likely because someone was drunk and knocked her down.  Well there are "family friendly" no alcohol areas... Though I'll reiterate football games are not family friendly IMO... I guess I just feel like if you're putting your kid in that environment, you're risking something happening.  You can't cry victim when it does.

I totally agree there’s people bad enough at every nfl game to elbow their way through a family and buffalo is no different but this particular story just doesn’t add up for me still

idk who hears a drunk guy that has been supposedly assaulting you with snowballs all game say ‘I’m gonna shove my way through those niners fans’ and doesn’t immediately attempt to get his young child out of the way it is just straight up bizarre. It would make a lot more sense to me if they didn’t hear the guy talking about what he was gonna do and he just came out of nowhere.

I am pretty convinced the family was intentionally letting this guy by and he lost his balance and bumped the girl into a chair

No, I mostly agree with you and I think it could be possible, but I’m not sure if it went down the way that it was originally presented Sunday when the story caught fire.  As you can tell by the reporting, the story did change between the mother and father‘s account. And hypothetically, if you wanted to protect your daughter from a targeted attack, why wouldn’t you file a police report after?  It doesn’t seem like the father was mad at the “shover” as much as he was at Bills security.

The saddest part in all of this is that the little girl who battled cancer ended up having a bad time at an event she was exited to attend.

I’d also argue that part of the problem was the location where she was sitting in.  The group that she worked with should have put the family in a suite or in an area better suited for families.   I would be surprised if the Bills don’t make this happen in the future.  Sadly it probably won’t be against SF anytime soon, as I don’t think they are on the schedule next season.

I agree with all this...  but I was pretty sober and was sliding all over the place down those stairs and bumped a few people (who were pushed out into the aisles due to the abundance of snow).  I don't even think we need to presume that this alleged "pusher" was a drunk.

I wouldn’t call it a 100% scam, I think they went into the game intending on posting about how mia went to her first nfl game after fighting cancer and had the best time with a pic and the gofundme link for her medical bills.

seems to me like they were letting a guy by that bumped into them by mistake and thought they’d get more eyes on the post if they played up that angle.  If that’s exactly what went down it’s certainly deceptive, but I’m sure they could use the money.  I hesitate to use the word scam cuz to me that’s something like ‘the girl didn’t even ever have cancer and the parents are pocketing the money’ lol

In the Moms first post, she described how she was leaving early after having spoken to police. ( I assume she meant Bills security) if any of these new organizations had a shred of integrity, they would reach to the Bills and their security head for comment.

Shocking they have not, as it involves a a sacred “ good person” ( re attention go) In Kate Glaser.

Really is a simple thing to do.

IMO - at this point I think it should be obvious to everyone that the mother's initial report of her child being "pushed down the stairs" is incontrovertibly untrue.  The father came out with another version - being bumped - that is closer to the realm of possibility  - though the level of intent/rudeness/evil of the perpetrator is still up for debate.

It sucks that there was likely some drunk a-hole that might have acted improperly and negatively impacted this family's experience, but the inflammatory (and untrue) "pushed down the stairs" that the mother initially posted on social media is also improper behavior by her.   It was irresponsible to misrepresent the incident using such violent imagery in a public forum.  Why aren't any of the 'journalists' reporting on this not asking her why her "pushed down the stairs" story does not match what her husband says - and ask her if she wants to amend her initial account.  That might help to put the incident in more perspective and quell some of the the extreme negative reaction towards the entire fanbase that has come from it
