I don't think they should get rid of it entirely as the coaches need to evaluate the guys trying to make the roster. Also 18 weeks, with 2 bye weeks seems pretty reasonable. I think when you open camp, you know 50 of the 53 guys who are going to make the team...I don't think you need a two game a preseason to determine that. Quote
BillsFooteball Posted December 2 Posted December 2 I don’t like international game increase but of course expand the brand $$$. I’m on board with 18 game season only if you add exta bye week. Cut preseason down to 2 games. Super Bowl should always be Sunday before Presidents’ Day so next day is a holiday Quote

Dov Kleiman on X: "𝗧𝗥𝗘𝗡𝗗𝗜𝗡𝗚: Roger Goodell plans to extend the NFL season to 18 Games. He also wants to increase the international game total to 16 a season. “We hope to be 16 within five years,” referring to international games. “We could be doing more regular season than preseason, so https://t.co/y1xyY77jhE" / X I just don't want any of that. Didn't want the 17th game, didn't want 7 Playoff teams. It just waters the product down. Of course the money, but now you're into middle February with the season. Quote

They could expand the practice squad some. Negotiations will be interesting at the next CBA. Like for international games, as a player do you require a bye afterward? Are there other requirements the players should have around some of this scheduling? Plus the discipline process, grass vs turf vs crappy grass or turf, I'm sure there's a bunch of other things to work out. Quote
LabattBlue Posted December 2 Posted December 2 Two things that will not happen in the next decade or more…SB will not be PPV, and it will not be held in a location where there is not currently a franchise. Quote

Marv Levy Posted December 2 Posted December 2 Reminds me of this classic quote from BASEketball movie" Dan Patrick : With the first nine months of the Baseketball postseason out of the way, the playoff picture is starting to emerge. Kenny Mayne : So, with last night's victory over Boston, next week the Milwaukee Beers must beat Indianapolis in order to advance to Charlotte. That's in an effort to reduce their magic number to three. Dan Patrick : Right, and then the Beers can advance to the National Eastern Division North to play Tampa. Kenny Mayne : So, if the Beers beat Detroit and Denver beats Atlanta in the American Southwestern Division East Northern, then Milwaukee goes to the Denslow Cup, unless Baltimore can upset Buffalo and Charlotte ties Toronto, then Oakland would play LA and Pittsburgh in a blind choice round robin. And if no clear winner emerges from all of this, a two-man sack race will be held on consecutive Sundays until a champion can be crowned.😄 1 Quote
LabattBlue Posted December 2 Posted December 2 Just a PSA reminder…Goodell works for the owners and only does what they approve of. 1 Quote

Goodell has already floated that out there and that means it almost assuredly is going to happen at some point, they are giving people a heads up into what's coming and giving them time to digest it. Would not be a time difference if it was held in Canada or Mexico. Edited December 2 by Big Turk Quote
Bruffalo Posted December 2 Posted December 2 I haven't seen the numbers, but is the NFL really catching on internationally? I get to work with people from around the world and none of them have ever casually brought up football in conversation. 1 Quote

I just don’t see any way a Super Bowl will be played outside of the United States. 1 Quote
Big Turk Posted December 2 Posted December 2 Just now, Beast said: Canada or Mexico? Never. Europe is the apple of the NFL’s eye. ESPECIALLY when he has shot down the idea repeatedly in the past. Goodell has shot down the idea in the past, but he told a fan forum in London that it’s a possibility. “We’ve always traditionally tried to play a Super Bowl in an NFL city — that was always sort of a reward for the cities that have NFL franchises,” he said in response to a question about moving the neutral-site game internationally. “But things change. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if that happens one day.” https://apnews.com/article/goodell-nfl-london-international-caa03e8d27aa2a07ab0a848bc015fff7 Quote

While I agree with your statement, I personally do not think an 18 game season is a good thing. Too many injuries now. I think it will also shorten careers of star players because of wear and tear. 2 Quote
