Plus i could give a Rats A** about international games ! Won't watch them, won't go to them, won't support them ! We have farmed out to much of America keep the NFL America's game !!!! 2 2 1 1 Quote

Sports betting is really what makes the NFL indestructible. It’s so easy to bet on, also fantasy football is growing. Im not a fan of the whole international thing but they must feel there’s untapped potential. I don’t know. Eventually there will be NFL teams in other countries. Probably a whole division of international teams. Quote
Low Positive Posted December 2 Posted December 2 Like any CEO, Goodell is under pressure from his "board of directors" to engage in constant growth. But, he has already grown the game of American football as far as he can. Unless they are trying to make some point, almost all sports fans pay attention to NFL football. Even people whose primary interest in football on Saturdays also watch on Sundays (even if they say they don't). They already bulldozed baseball by having the draft and training camp take up so much sports oxygen in the summers. So how can he grow the game? A few things: Flag football: This is important because it is the only way to get broad-based casual participation in the game. The thought of a co-ed rec tackle football league is almost laughable. Not so with flag football. That's why the NFL is pushing this so hard. People who play a sport are fans for life, and that includes girls/women. Appeal to non-sports fans: This is why they hit the gold mine with the Taylor Swift thing. It's why they have elaborate halftime shows at the SB. Look internationally: The NBA did such a good job growing support in China that every other professional league is looking to replicate that success. For example, ~500 million people signed up for a digital streaming service for NBA basketball in the 2018-2019 season. The NFL has already created interest in the UK, Mexico, and Germany. The next frontier is Asia. You can hate China for political reasons, but that's a lot of people with a lot of money. Goodell cannot just "leave things as they are" because that's what his core fans want. He's paid to expand revenue and increase the value of the 32 teams. He's trying everything to make that happen short of actual international expansion. TBH, I don't like any of it but I'm not the target audience. 2 1 Quote
Brianmoorman4jesus Posted December 2 Posted December 2 Give me 18 games 2 bye per team. Can’t be enough nfl the season is way too short. 3 3 Quote

Beast Posted December 2 Posted December 2 Each team should get a bye every seven weeks. Make it a 21 week season with three byes. Those guys need rest. 2 Quote

You know in some ways i could understand that because there is only 1 Super Bowl and if they did it in a country that had these really nice stadiums i might be able to get it, but every game during the year that they take away your screwing over the fan base of that team in some ways, not to mention the local economy . Which Roger apparently doesn't care about . 42 minutes ago, Buffalo_Stampede said: The NFL could have 32 games and it wouldn’t be enough. Sports betting is really what makes the NFL indestructible. Ned Flanders Posted December 2 Posted December 2 What makes the NFL great is that less is more. I liked the 16 game schedule...17 is just an odd number. But if you have to go to 18 games, eliminate the preseason entirely, it's unwatchable, and give each team two byes. Also, do the byes by division...makes little sense for a team to get a bye early while the rest of your division is playing. 1 1 Quote

The pre-season is really for those guys on the fringes that are trying to make the team. I don't think they should get rid of it entirely as the coaches need to evaluate the guys trying to make the roster. Also 18 weeks, with 2 bye weeks seems pretty reasonable. 1 Quote
