McDermott’s Post Game speech deserves its own thread

God no.  About a year ago at this time he was apologizing for crediting the 9/11 hijackers for their coordination and camaraderie during a team meeting.

I kind have liked how awkward the snow angel with Allen looked. It was goofy fun and McDermott was totally out of character. Not like him to behave like that but I wouldn't want him to all the time. There has to be a line between a leader and those who follow and I think the line is clear but he also clearly shows a human side. 

 

Now, if we win the the SB I'd want him to go full Frank the Tank frat party mode. Go missing after the parade and turn up 3 days later divorced, covered in tattoos and driving an electric car around like the Dukes of Hazard.

I still chuckle when I remember that the Cleveland Browns had McDermott recommended to be the hire for their coaching vacancy...but Haslam overruled it and went with Hue Jackson instead.

 

McDermott would have been the perfect hire to change the Factory of Sadness culture.

I don't want to run too much on vibes but this might be the best vibes I've felt in the McDermott era. 17 and 19 felt like we just felt lucky to be relevant. 2020 was playing with house money but they always were the underdog. As great as 2021 was the Chiefs seemed like a distant hurdle. In 2022 we were starting to feel the energy slow down as they started getting attrition. In 2023 it was panic because they got in by the skin of their teeth.

 

This year they look loose. They're having fun to the extent that the coach is making snow angels with his QB at the end of game. Everyone knows the real trials are ahead but everyone feels ready for the moment.

Coach let his hair down a bit last night, doing snow angels, fun interview w ESPN, celebrating division title, etc....it's great to see.

I agree that the vibes are great. 

 

But all the same, each of those other seasons since 2020 had "this is our year" moments too.  There's a cruelty to the variance of single elimination playoffs.  If football (somehow) had 7 game series like other sports that allowed the cream to rise to the top I believe we'd have multiple championships.

I was beginning to doubt if he was actually THE GUY for the Bills , but this year he has proven to be a great leader and he will be a great part of Bills history similar to Marv.  5 consecutive arc east titles is an amazing accomplishment and he is our Tomlin in that he is the guy who brought his vision of culture to life for this organization.  
 

     Great game tonight that will always be a part of special Bills memories. I really think they are peaking perfectly this year and I believe they can get it done,,,,in fact ,, they gotta get it done!    lol!  Go BILLS , ENJOY THIS ALONG WITH YOUR FAMILY / loved ones , and also have a great Christmas season!  GO BILLS!

The lose-and-go-home format of the NFL playoffs makes winning the Super Bowl really dependent on so many factors outside any team's control, especially injuries and lucky/unlucky bounces.   Unfortunately, a series format just isn't feasible for football.

This is why I preferred the playoff format of six teams and two byes per conference.  It made things a little less random for the handful of really good teams.

It's truly remarkable what this coach and organization has done since they took over. We would've been over the moon if someone told us in 2016 that the Bills would be in this position in 2024. I feel something has shifted, and they're ready for the big one this time. Stay healthy, win, and get that #1.

After watching coaching meltdowns around the league,  we need to realize how fortunate we are to have McDermott as head coach. 

This organization of among the best in the league,  even though the just won the division,  this was a year with major retoooling,  the present and future look extremely bright.
