For all his failings he’s never failed to build character as a leader of young men. Always grateful for what he’s built and instilled in this organization, just like Marv did, a brotherhood that is about the collective success. Success as a team of high character men not just football players.

McDermott needs to come up with his one-liners...He cannot just replay what Marv Levy quoted...Go Bills !!!

Humble and hungry.  Although admittedly it doesn’t have the same kick as some Levy quotes

I mean do you need to reinvent the wheel, those lines are simply perfection, McDermott has his own things he says but those lines are always going to come back around.

Levy used to say "you know why Hitler lost the war? Because he couldn't win on the road!"

When McDermott tried something like that he got eviscerated by the media. Media go away.

He actually just created a pretty good new one in that video, "It doesn't happen every year, it doesn't happen everywhere." Good enough for Josh to immediately latch onto it.

And his speech was about the Bills and its organization, its history (mentioned playoff drought, Josh passing Jim Kelly, Terry hiring Sean and Brandon, Buffalo fans loving their football, etc.), so very appropriate to quote Marv. Also, being a snow/difficult weather game, again, appropriate to use the "When it's too tough for them, it's just right for us" Marv quote.

Seems like he wants it to be this way - wants to honor the past while moving into the future.

I forgave McDermott for 13 seconds and it's undeniable that he has great organizational skills and true authentic leadership. He's clearly respected to a high level and runs a first class football program. He's also a helluva defensive mind and good at adjusting on the fly.

I hope he coaches here as long as Bill did in new England.

He's also from everything I know a good person and I really want to see him hold the Lombardi. He deserves it

But remember that Marv Levy was an English Literature scholar at Coe College, and then masters degree in English history from Harvard.  Studying literature and history will give you a more flowery vocabulary - suitable for inventing fancy quotations.

Probably the worst tendency Bills fans have is the need for certainty.  If there's one ***** thing we should have learned by now it's that nothing is certain.  We're pretty good, and can take out anyone, but there are some seriously good teams waiting for us out there right now.
