Doc Brown Posted December 2 Posted December 2 My first reaction to this had me more thinking about human nature than actual politics. I have a son and daughter in their 20's now and if either one faced nearly the rest of their life in prison and I had the power to prevent that. Would I? Would you? I guess it depends on what they did. I'm in no way absolving Biden for pardoning his crackpot son because it's complete bs that he said he wouldn't and he did. I guess maybe it's too simplistic of a hypothetical scenario because Joe Biden pry isn't clean either. BTW, in a country that prides itself of having a government of "checks and balances" how is it okay that the president is the only person in the country that can issue pardons? Seems to be against everything we stand for.

But I think Joe's action is somewhat more self-serving than just pardoning his son. As VP Biden was leading US policy in Ukraine and there's no way Hunter would have been on the BOD of Burisma or involved elsewhere if his dad didn't use his power and set him up there for one reason or another. Hunter was the "bag man" for siphoning US aid money and private favors out of the country and into family member bank accounts. Now that Hunter is pardoned those investigations into his activities won't take place. As a result, Joe saved himself, and other family business actors, from any Trump administration DOJ investigation and charges stemming from any funny business taking place there. 1

I'm not sure I agree with this take. Those investigations may very well take place, and the other members of the Biden family may be on the hook for crimes committed. (Not Hunter's crimes, but accepting illegal funds etc.) If Hunter is compelled to testify he can't take the fifth, because there's no possibility of self-incrimination. Furthermore, if he DOES refuse to testify (as I understand it), then he can lose his deal for the pardon.
dgrochester55 Posted December 2 Posted December 2 (edited) From a human standpoint, I don't blame Biden. His party threw him under the bus and he is already going to be seen as a bottom five at best and maybe even worst president of all time. He may as well use his Presidential privilege to look out for his family. Establishment politicians and corruption go hand in hand and this is just one small example out of thousands. From a party standpoint, this is just another puzzle piece that exposes the hypocrisy and inconsistency of the far left democrats and legacy media. Remember how often they would virtue signal "No one is above the law" when using the court system against Trump? Guess it was another "do as we say, not as we do." Now there is no moral high ground anymore if Trump pardons people on day one. This puts them is a position that is impossible for them to explain. Once all is said and done, the far left reign of terror is going to be a case of what to avoid in the future and seen as a black mark in US history for future generations. BillsFanNC Posted December 2 Posted December 2 You don't see this everyday. A MSNBC never Trumper calling this as it is.
BillsFanNC Posted December 2 Posted December 2 (edited) Did he preemptively pardon his brother and other family who profited from these shakedowns? The investigations will go forward because, except for Hunter..... Edited December 2 by BillsFanNC
JFKjr Posted December 2 Posted December 2 Maybe we'll see a whole string of Biden Crime Family pardons.
BillsFanNC Posted December 2 Posted December 2 Scott Jennings might need his own thread. That's epic hand waving only the King would be proud of.. Joe Biden wasn't lying!!! 1

stevestojan Posted December 2 Posted December 2 Well, I - or anyone else - can not say a word about Trump’s upcoming pardons of the January sixth dimwits. They both suck. Both sides. And this pardon - after dozens of claims that he would never do it - reduces Biden to the level of Trump. Gross abuse of power, Joe, made worse by the endless lying about it. 3

Something tells me his highly principled position here has changed as of yesterday. 1
