A looser McDermott has been nice to see this year.

I noticed him starting to change when the Bills clinched the division last season in Miami. You saw him show emotion, become less robotic, and that has continued this season.

He definitely is not as uptight, and shows more joy than he used to.

I think it happened after the Dunne piece to be honest. Blessing in disguise.

I wouldn't argue against the Dunne article being an impetus for McDermott to self-examine and change.  I also think the way the team rallied behind him may have had a strong emotional impact on him.  I think there are some other things though.

I believe McD spent Josh Allen's first 5 years butting heads with his offensive coordinators to develop a solid run game not named Josh Allen.  As a defensive-minded coach, he knows very well that it's much harder to defend a "multiple" offense that can run when they need to, that being able to control clock is a needed complimentary trait, and that if you're concerned with the long-term health of your QB it's not smart to use him as your best RB.  I think Daboll (and his disciple Dorsey) heard "blah blah Ginger, blah blah blah Ginger" whenever McDermott would try to make that point, to where McDermott resorted to calling them out in pressers (not his nature).

I also think that Leslie Frazier had a different defensive mindset than McDermott in some big moments.  (Others may disagree, and that's fine) I think Babich is more aggressive and stays more aggressive when he has a lead, and McDermott is good with that.

So I think McDermott, all around, is looser this year because he has a coaching staff that is more comfortable for him to work with and he has a run game that looks pretty solid independent of his QB.  He has less internal frustrations he's presenting a "stone face" about.

It's also easier to be "looser", more relaxed and happier, with a 10-2 team that just won the division in week 12, than it is to 6-6 at the bye week with several of your best players on IR.  A good dose of that "Vitamin W" cures many ills!

What a great game to be at! That's 3 classics back to back to back with the Dolphins win, the Chiefs win and the 49ers win. So glad and blessed to be there with my family and our Bills mafia family!

Have been looking for some first-hand accounts from people who were there.  What was the general vibe in the lot then stadium - was there still a lot of snow in the stands where you were?  Someone mentioned a lot more niner fans than they expected?

Definitely a fair number of Niner fans were there. A lot of season tix holders sold theirs off unfortunately. The vibe was great though and there were no issues with Niner fans in our section at least. Yes our seats were completely covered with snow but it was all good :). Not sure on the lot vibe because we had dinner before getting to OP, and basically arrived and took our mile walk directly into the stadium. The crowd wasn't nearly as loud as in the KC and MIA games but it was fine, all things considered. Overall the crowd seemed a bit more intoxicated and fatigued than usual, LOL, but it was a happy drunk for most of them.

It seemed that way looking at it on TV... like they were loud but not as insane as the prior two games... I wonder if the fact they had to shovel 3 feet of snow just to get to the game and shovel their seat had a dampening effect on the intensity LOL... but seriously, credit to everyone there, it wasnt a normal game day.. probably lots of effort just to make it in...

Also - snow dampens sound, so the effect of yelling is minimized

Talk about going from one end of the spectrum to the other. Last night Bills the play in cold temps with snow. Next week in the climate control comfort of Sofi. I think Allen and the offense are going to go off in this game. My early prediction Bills 42 Rams 24 before a 50-50 crowd as I expect a lot of Bills blue inside Sofi.

Wgr caller Cindy is so drunk today!

I have WGR on in the background of my office when I'm not on a call. I'm pretty sure it's a prerequisite for any caller between 10AM-3PM to be absolutely sloshed.

There was a guy on the Extra point show who sounded so drunk that I thought he was gonna hurl live on the radio.

Today she analyzed the game explaining that Josh has a new sparkle in his eye that “she hasn't seen in quite awhile” since he got engaged, which was why he is playing so well. and also explained that the “everybody eats” mantra is just like when she goes to her nana’s house for thanksgiving, no one is allowed to leave unless they all eat and….

Snow does dampen noise, though I think generally fans tend to be more subdued for the night games.  Probably longer pre-game and higher internal alcohol content

The bare feet aren't even top-3 for that crazy get-up.

I do worry about his foot health walking over snow melt chemicals.  We have a Northern breed and her feet are normally fine in the snow, but can get damaged by the combination of snow-melt chemicals and water below freezing (due to the snow melt chemicals)

Is Aaron Kromer the architect of the chop and belly flop block? It’s amazing to watch. It seemed like only Dawkins was doing it for a while but lately I’m seeing other Bills lineman do it. This time it’s Torrence.
