IIRC saints re diving group has bern hit by injuries so he got more plays in a position of primary or secondary target. buffalo has a lot more options in plays and a QB who isn’t focused on just one receiver so the ball gets spread out. Kelly to Allen Posted December 2 Posted December 2 He was never in our top 5. So he probably asked to go somewhere else to play. I didn't mind the signing like others. Quote

Buffalo_Stampede Posted December 2 Posted December 2 He does his role well, which is stretch the field. That’s why he’s been a starter on 2 Super Bowl contenders. Saints are a good fit for his skill set. Quote

Here is Josh's passer rating by field position chart from 2023. We see he's way above average with the deep ball on the R side, average on the L. Here is Paddy Mahomes passer rating by field position chart, again from 2023 with MVS on his team. Average on the R side, well below league average on the L. Just maybe, defenses cover teams with elite QB differently, in a manner which makes those Go routes (already low percentage throws) more difficult to complete? Just maybe, defenses aren't scared of Derek Carr's arm, but they are trying to shut down Kamera? 10 hours ago, SoonerBillsFan said: And I don't get it. He was rocking a completion % less than 60% and throwing for <200 ypg. By mid-season 2020, that changed. 3 Quote

He can throw the corner, and deep outs pretty well too. What he doesnt throw well is a wide-open go/9 ball. It seems like he struggles a great deal when he has to put air under the pass and drop it over a wideouts shoulder. That said, yes, teams do try and take that route away from him with the two high shell. The opportunities arent as vast for guys like Josh and Mahomes. Quote

Not saying he’s a wr1 / 2 but he had some success in KC and appears to be having success in NO. I don’t necessarily think his abbreviated stay and lack of numbers in Buffalo was all his doing. Josh tried to get him the ball several times. Not blaming MVS they didn’t connect on all of them, but on several he didn’t seem to fight for the catch like our other guys do. Josh will throw the ball whenever he feels he can connect. For him, it’s not run downfield 10 yards, cut right and be on target. His receivers need to be aware ALL the time they may be the target even if the play makes them the 4th read. I guess I gotta ask. Why so concerned over a guy who had plenty of time to gel with this team, but got cut? Does he really make this team better? Better option than our current receivers? I say absolutely not. Anyways, I trust Beane and company to make the right roster move. Edited December 2 by davefan66 2 Quote
sunshynman Posted December 2 Posted December 2 Carr throws up moon balls, MVS is good at catching them. Josh tends to overthrow that type of ball. And if it was a heater MVS couldn't grab it. 1 Quote

The point of the concern is to be able to say I told you so if the Bills happen to lose in the playoffs or super bowl in a game in which they struggle to stretch the field or a current receiver drops a potential big play pass. I don't believe anyone here honestly thinks MVS is a quality receiver or realistically makes this team better on a snap to snap basis. 1 1 Quote

I get that but honestly the tape doesn’t lie. He was a non-factor in Buffalo. Also, it should be noted that the Bills cut MVS to make room for Amari Cooper. Are you saying you want MVS over Cooper? I don’t think anyone can argue that Cooper is an improvement. 2 hours ago, davefan66 said: Josh tried to get him the ball several times. And if it was a heater MVS couldn't grab it. It's by far the best part of Carr's game. Allen can do it decently as well, but it's not the focus. You combine that with defenses selling out on Kamara / Hill and then you get a bunch of deep shots. The Saints have been hitting deep shots all season, and not just to MVS. Teams play defense against Allen to stop the big/intermediate pass. It's just more of a focus than it is with Carr. 1 1 Quote
