He makes a play here or there, but takes bad angles and makes more mental errors than the other DB'S. There's a reason he can't get on the field and it's not because of Douglas and Benford alone. Benford also is not the best CB in the NFL. You put him on another team, in another system, and he's just average. We have seen it multiple times, that McDermott knows how to coach up DB'S. Benford is nothing more than a product of our defense. We just disagree bro. I think buffalos top 4 CBS are the best in the NFL and is on par with what KC did last year. All pro Johnson in the nickel and Elam / Ingram as depth along with Hardy on the ps and what he showed in preseason is about as good as it gets for a full CB room 4 minutes ago, Charles Romes said: If the Ravens were desperate enough to assume a gimpy Tre whites 8 figure salary, this guy is certainly not going to make it past waivers. Seeing tre white now makes me sad. Dude was so frickin good before the injuries His 19 season was incredible. I remember his int vs KC in 17 as a rookie. Brand J Posted Sunday at 03:20 AM Posted Sunday at 03:20 AM Has to be entirely mental with Elam, not physical. If he was as mentally adept as the likes of Jamarcus Ingram and Cam Lewis, he’d go on the field in special packages ahead of those two. He may very well be CB2 next year if Douglas walks. I’d like to see he and Douglas platoon the position myself, Douglas has been rough as of late. 1 Quote

It's not mutually exclusive.... Elam is cb2 next year regardless. So it's really a win however you want to look at it Dude...you're trolling right? I mean your absolute commitment to "really, really good" hmmmm. I mean I may have bought in to you saying decent, hell may have even given you a lazy head nod had you said good...but brother "really, really good"? You trolling right? 1 Quote

Everytime he has played healthy he's been really really good. Go look at the tape and his pff grade His game vs Tyreek in 22 was pretty awesome I am an Elam truther tho 😉 Edited Sunday at 03:43 AM by Kelly to Allen 1 1 Quote

I could obviously be wrong. If we hypothetically have an injury at cb I am very comfortable with him starting Edited Sunday at 04:50 AM by Kelly to Allen 1 Quote

If you want to say well the draft capital investment was not on par , ok I can agree sorta. But if Elam is great depth outside and is again a starter in 25 at 24 yrs old idk. I think the narrative around Elam is more about finding a gem in Benford and not really about Elam. If there is a weakness it's his tackling Elam has literally been really good when he has played healthy. That's an objective fact. Benford has a really good argument for the best CB in football based on lots of his grades.... Look up his grades when he has been healthy Elam has a pff grade of 76 right now. It was 87 in the playoffs his rookie year And 75 in the playoffs last year when he was healthy. Oh… now I get it. Welcome to the forum Kaiir! 😀 3 Quote

There's a reason Douglas isn't resigned You are hilarious and your takes suck but it’s good amusement. You are like the Arron Quinn of TBD, you always have to have some contrarian take to try and make some ridiculous point. Elam is in the most CB friendly defense in the league and he can’t see the field. McD takes 7th round cast offs and makes them into serviceable CBs who go on to get solid contracts, yet Elam “played realty well his rookie year” and is inactive more often than not. He will get a chance to compete for #2 next year because Douglas will be gone, that’s it. They won’t pick up his 5th year option. Take a break. 1 Quote

I assume the vast majority of the NFL will be after the guy and it’s possible someone claims him that has some cap space and a bad roster but you’d be on the hook for a solid contract for a guy who might be a bust. That’s the thing about taking a guy like this though. There is no downside just upside. The Bills wouldn’t be investing much of anything in him 1 Quote

NewEra Posted Sunday at 12:06 PM Posted Sunday at 12:06 PM 9 hours ago, Kelly to Allen said: I guess. He started as a rookie for many games and was the best CB on the team by the end of the year. His man covg against tyreek hill was excellent He then got hurt his second year and had to go on ir. When he was fully healthy he once again was solid and made a huge int in the playoffs and almost had another one. From everything I read he was excellent in camp and took a jump in play but Benford has turned into a gem. Douglas is also really good. It's possible that Benford is the best CB in the NFL right now. It's not mutually exclusive It's just a numbers game imo and not really an indictment on him as some failed pick. I think the plan was always for Benford and Elam to start by 24 or 25 I agree with most of this- and as I said I think he may be a good player and have a solid career. I didn’t wanted to trade him and I believe he’s likely going to be starting opposite Benford next season. But do we even pick up his 5th year option? Maybe- But we can’t judge a players “worth” based on what we think he might be next year or the year after….pr how he played in training camp. We can only base it on how he’s produced and snaps played in actual nfl games. He couldn’t get on the field over Dane Jackson. Can Lewis and Jamarcus Ingram play over him (albeit not as outside corner). It’s year 3 and he’s played 89 snaps (58 in one game). He’s played in 12% of the snaps this season and almost 15% last season- after playing 45% his rookie season Good GMs don’t trade up for a cornerback with the plan to have him start in year 3 or 4. This is not my opinion- this is reality. I like the player- I think he can be good. To date- it’s a failed pick Quote

He was previously very bad. Now with a new HC and defense and they decided he wasn’t worth sticking with MIDSEASON. Massive red flag after red flag of a dude who was probably over drafted by 2 rounds. No thanks. Edited Sunday at 12:12 PM by FireChans Quote
