Thanks.

So they will need to cut someone when DC is ready to go

Most likely one of either Jordan Phillips or Quinton Jefferson.

The only arguably worse position group on the team is DT, and that’s a stretch

No it's definitely DT.   They got guys playing meaningful snaps there that they picked up off the street weeks ago.   Daquan Jones has been awful this year and Ed Oliver has had an unproductive season.

I think it's debatable, but if you consider the return based on the investment in the position, I think you may be right.

I knew this last year that signing DQ made as much sense as hanging on to Star for another year...which was actually 2 too long. I get tired of the whole 1 tech, takes up 2 guys crap. We need to draft two Jeffery Simmons....and do it his year. What did the Titans do?...draft Sweat.

Jeffery Simmons don't grow in trees lmao

And EVERY SINGLE defensive philosophy uses techniques... Our 4 down line and all 4 down lines play 1 and 3 techniques at DT basically

It's nothing new

A 34 front would use a 0 Tech at DT

Mike White should get in Brock Purdy's head before the game pulling this up on his phone 😃

That's the absolute hardest legal hit you can possibly see in today's NFL. Ouch.

What's a stretch? He was 1st team All-Pro in 2022.

Maybe. I'd rather get rid of Morrow and keep an extra DL.

Maybe Jalen Virgil, too.

Can we get a Jalen Carter? A Chris Jones?

Everyone wants a 340 lb two gap player like Sweat…but it is not McDermott’s style. And the chances we are able to run across a 320 lb pass rushing force like the guys listed above is slim.

I think they’ll reinvest this offseason in the DL (I can believe I’m saying this) and I can’t wait. They’ve already begun with the Carter pick…but they have a lot of room to grow. The 1 year stop gap deals of camp fodder playing significant snaps has caught up to their depth at the position, and I think they’re in a place now they can finally put more meaningful assets into the interior

Again those are top 5-7 guys.. Carter was considered the best pure player in the draft but nobody wants to take a DT top 5... The return is almost never worth it

So he slipped a bit

Jordan Phillips is every bit 330 plus but he's a pass rushers not an anchor... We saw what he could do with motivation years ago

9.5 sacks and a force... But 95% of DTs can't sustain that

Right, this is my point. As fans we want both, but it really isn’t easy to get a guy who can possess the size to be stout in the run game against a double team and wreak havoc against the pass.

Fans have grown weary to watching teams be able to push around the DL on the ground, and its lead to many wanting that traditional space eater nose tackle.

That is just not what McBeane will want. They know it’s not apple picking grabbing a guy who can do both, so I think they opt to do with guys who can penetrate and rush the passer, since their defense is primarily built to stop the pass.
