Carolina scored with almost exactly the same amount of time on the clock to tie the game. Except one game is against a divisional rival who has atleast a .500 record against other teams and has a top 15 QB and a top 5 WR. The other game is against the worst team in the the NFL, in a non-divisional (and non-conference) game, with the worst starting QB in the NFL. No one would be making fun of KC for it being a one score game with a divisional rival who had a decent QB and top 5 WR. But they didn’t… KC is having these squeekers against total joke teams and QB’s. Bryce Young!?!? Aidan O’connell!?! You want to draw a parallel from the Dolphins, who are 5-5 against any team not named the Bills, and has Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, Achane and Tua…. to the Bryce Young and Aidan Oconnel 2-10 teams!? that just makes you look foolish 47 minutes ago, SaulGoodman said: Last time I checked a few weeks ago, KC's offense led the league in success rate, and they have the best 3rd down conversion rate in the NFL in over a decade. The offense hasn't been explosive, but it's usually efficient. PPG isn't a very meaningful number. Points per drive is more telling. Scoring 27 in 14 possessions isn't good. Scoring 27 in 8 drives is very good. Alright, let’s get granular. KC is 15th in points per play. FIFTEENTH. 47 minutes ago, SaulGoodman said: Mahomes wasn't better last season. Uh What? vs Ravens: Punted 2 of the last 3 drives, including the last drive, and needed the refs to overturn a Ravens TD with 5 seconds left to win the game vs Bills: Last drive, interception (and punted 2 of the 3 drives before that too) vs Raiders: Last 3 drives, Field goal, Punt, Punt … then needed a gift from Aidan O’connell fumbling to win the game vs Broncos: Last 3 drives, Punt, Punt, Field Goal … then needed Special Teams to block a kick to win the game Edited December 1 by Einstein 1 1 1 Quote
Sammy Watkins' Rib Posted December 1 Posted December 1 33 minutes ago, SaulGoodman said: It's convenient to now say it was an "easy fix" regarding the WRs. Leading up to the playoffs, the narrative was that KC's WRs were so bad that they didn't have a chance to go far. It wasn't just drops. It was players not running proper routes and not even knowing where to line up. You either don't remember last year or you're being disingenuous. But you're right...there's no Rashee Rice coming to save the day. There's Hollywood Brown, a better player than rookie Rice. I think you are wrong about Brown being better than rookie Rice. That certainly hasn't been the case for the last two seasons we have seen Rice in '22 and '23. His numbers across the board were down from what Rice did last year as rookie. I'm actually not sure he has had a single season in his career better than Rice's rookie season. In '21 Brown had 1,008 receiving yards, more than Rice's 938 but Rice had a higher YPC, catch % and success rate. Browns on his third team in six seasons and has career ypc below 12. Ravens had no problem trading Brown after his 1,000 yard season and then would go on to draft Zay Flowers a similar sized player two years later. Drafting Flowers told us it wasn't that they didn't value the skill set Brown had. They specifically didn't like Brown for other reasons it seems. Hollywood Brown's comp would be Brandin Cooks in terms of a smaller speed receiver that has bounced around the league. But Cooks has been considerably more productive at every stop. And if you think Mahomes is the secret sauce that Brown needs to reach his full potential, well, that doesn't always happen. Sammy Watkins can tell us that. Quote

Pretty much every WR that's played for Mahomes/Reid has been more productive than elsewhere. MVS did absolutely nothing in Buffalo and got cut midseason. He was a postseason hero in KC. Smith-Schuster put up almost 1000 yds for KC two years ago and was their #1 receiver. The next year he did nothing as the fifth option in a NE offense that wasn't exactly loaded with weapons. Hardman did literally nothing for NYJ. Many people thought Hopkins was washed up when he joined the Chiefs. He quickly proved he's not even close, and he hasn't even learned the offense yet. Not sure why you view Watkins as a failure. He was good for KC when healthy. Especially in the playoffs. Edited December 1 by SaulGoodman Quote

Not by their history or what the media tells me. If you watched those games and thought Young or O'Connell played terribly, I don't know what to tell you. They were dropping dimes. They weren't just throwing to wide open receivers. KC gets everyone's best shot, and it's human nature to struggle to match the intensity of lesser teams that are amped up to take you down. They're both very young and improving QBs. One of them was the #1 overall pick. You're acting like he was picked up off the street. Also, keep in mind that people had the same opinion about Allen after his first year or two. 3 hours ago, Einstein said: Alright, let’s get granular. KC is 15th in points per play. FIFTEENTH. Points per play is more of an indication of explosiveness; not efficiency. The goal isn't always to score in as few plays as possible, especially for this KC offense. I've already said that KC's offense hasn't been very explosive, mostly due to the losses of Rice, Brown and Pacheco (and LT play). But it's been efficient. Not sure how you can call a team with the NFL's highest 3rd down conversion rate in almost 15 years, and highest success rate in the league, a broken/hopeless offense. But I guess when you're desperate for a narrative, you're not going to let facts get in the way. 3 hours ago, Einstein said: This is a joke that even your other Chiefs fans can’t stomach to make. I could do the same. Should we judge Allen's season by his performances vs Houston, Baltimore and Indianapolis? I don't think you want to do that. I never said that Mahomes' stats are all-world this year. They're obviously nothing special. The point is that he wasn't a better player last year. You've done nothing to disprove that. So even in the scenario you imagined involving the blowing of some sort of whistle that nobody heard, nothing changes. It’s still a fumble recovery by the Chiefs. But let’s say that they somehow decided that the recovery wasn’t immediate/clear enough. There would be a ten second runoff. The Chiefs still win. Maybe it’s best to just acknowledge that the Raiders fumbled the ball and that the refs didn’t impact the outcome. Or don’t. 1. Why is a Chiefs fan here anyway? 2. There were 11 seconds left when they stopped the clock/15 seconds when the ball was snapped. Even with a 10 second runoff; which is unlikely due to the previous play having a stopped clock Quote
