I think it is one of the dumbest rules that I have ever heard of. For example, if the Yankees have the bases loaded and the #9 hitter up. Boone could announce he wants to use the "Golden at Bat" rule in this spot and just substitute Judge to hit for the #9 hitter. WTF kind of BS rule would this be if it passes. I think it is awful. I consume a lot of baseball, and actually like all the new rules. I think this would kill the sport for me. 1 Quote

Same here. I like that pitchers are on time clock to pitch but this rule if it passes is beyond dumb. Quote
Rico Posted December 5 Posted December 5 Hockey jumped the shark when they broke up the French Connection. Quote
Irv Posted December 5 Posted December 5 Oh! I forgot cat juggling. Sport not like it used to be. Quote
DrBob806 Posted December 5 Posted December 5 NCAA football & the playoff committee. While most games are entertaining, the rankings system is flawed. Alabama will make the playoffs with 3 losses- that alone is a joke. Penn St. at #4, wow & how? Money has destroyed CFB slowly over the past 20 years. Quote

Look at a game from the 70s and 80s on YouTube...a clean, fast game. Plus, the Sabres look to define "suck" on a near nightly basis. I also miss Coaches Corner on CBC. 2 1 Quote
Golden*Wheels Posted December 6 Posted December 6 I used to watch/listen to full seasons (every game) of Red Sox baseball, *****, I would leave WORK to go home during day game no-hitters to watch them (usually jinxing them). Argue all over forums, wear the gear, etc etc etc. I'm in CT, it's like the Mason Dixon line of Sox/Yanks and I was not shy. After 2004, I slowed way down, but still watched any time I could easily. After 07, when they won again, and I had my first kid....yo my baseball days were OVER. Ain't nobody got time for all that. And I have to say....winning two really took the edge off around here. I sometimes wonder if the Bills win the bi gone, if I would feel the same way...then I remembered football is awesome. Quote
TheCockSportif Posted December 6 Posted December 6 Honestly? The Sabres. I'm also kinda done with the Buffalo Stallions. Quote
PastaJoe Posted December 6 Posted December 6 I was into the Yankees and baseball back in the Reggie Jackson and Billy Martin days, in part because there was nothing else during the summer. But then I got turned off by how the big money markets got such an advantage by signing the best free agents and just paying the luxury tax. I could care less about baseball now. i also was a Buffalo Braves fan, but once the owners and league screwed over the fans and broke up and then moved the team, it’s another league I could care less about. Know what other rule I think is every bit as dumb? The designated hitter rule. Used to enjoy a manager having to make a decision about leaving a pitcher in or pinch hitting for him during a tight game. It was actually first proposed in 1891. Rejected every time it was brought up between then and 1973, when it was given a 3 year trial. Today it is an accepted part of the game. Hope it takes as long to implement the "Golden Bat" as it did to implement the DH rule. Quote
