Big Turk Posted November 26 Posted November 26 (edited) This is pretty crazy... The question to ask is why his Dad had the ability to transfer these funds in the first place? https://www.yahoo.com/finance/news/baker-mayfield-files-suit-against-232314795.html Edited November 26 by Big Turk 2 Quote
Breakout Squad Posted November 26 Posted November 26 Johnny Football had his issues. But he wouldn’t bite the rich Manziel hand that feeds. 2 Quote
Freddie's Dead Posted November 26 Posted November 26 Apparently the lawsuit is over a nearly $12M settlement that was reached between the parties, but the father is not coughing up the dough. Stage parents are the *****in' worst. 4 1 Quote

Well that's a classy comment from a journalist. Sounds like a ***** situation, also he's on a second contract but he never really got a big one like Allen or Lamar did I don't think. Buffalo Boy Posted November 26 Posted November 26 Subtext: It’s sad as all get out what money does to some people’s brains. I’ve personally seen a few families ( not my own) get blown up by inheritance feuds but a Father screwing over his son???? I haven’t been a BM fan but it is nice to see him doing well after the sludge he had to swim through to start his career. 1 1 Quote

This has been debunked. There is money in the Manziel family, but "records showed "the cash doesn't appear to reach Johnny Football's branch of the family." " His father worked as the GM of a Honda dealership, and one reason they pushed Manziel in college as they did was because they were making money off him. Quote

An aquaintance who worked as the finance manager of a dealership shocked me when he told me how much money he makes. Dealerships can be highly profitiable and GMs can make a very good (6 figure++) income. Though nothing like football money. Quote

My step uncle back in the early 90s was making over 100 grand a year. 1 Quote

It's pretty clear the Manziel family lived in a very nice home and drove nice cars (maybe in part from the dealership?) But the representation has been that Johnny Football came from big Oil Money, and that isn't true - they weren't making so much money that profiting off their son's college football career and NFL wasn't an interest. 1 Quote
