The history of the league has a bunch of guys his size who imo were better especially since they played in a different and more physical era of football.

Steven Jackson, John Riggins, Franco Harris, Jim Brown, Eric Dickerson, Eddie George, Oj Anderson, Larry Csonka, Antowain Smith etc.    All his size and most outproduced him in a tougher league with shorter seasons and more difficult playing conditions_Environments.

I honestly never think of henry among the greats at this point.  If he does this for like 3 to 5 years more I will.

Did you just put Antowain Smith in that list to see who was paying attention?

This might be the worst job of catching the ball in a single game I have ever seen by QJ...

Just get this dude off the field...this is ridiculous.

How did the Ravens lose 4 games?  They look like the best team in the AFC to me.

Their weakness is pass defense, and apparently the Chargers can't pass downfield at all.

They can pass downfield fine.

They just don’t have anybody who can catch it.

reading answers that question.  Smith was his size.  I didn't say he out produced him, re read it I said some did.

that was in response to the statement that henry is one one which in the history of this league he is not.

Some games Lamar plays like he does in the playoffs and turns into La"Mew".

I think there’s 3 teams in the AFC that could represent the conference in the SB. Bills, Chiefs, Ravens. I don’t see any others as having a realistic chance.

For me it would be Barry. Unbelievable back.

Yep , no one broke ankles like sanders.  But as a kid I grew up watching OJ AND THE ELECTRIC  co go for 2 k yards in a 14 game season. Still remember the snowy day he went over 2 k and was hoisted by the o line.  Man , he was so smooth, and he just glided.  He and Barry were like aliens from another world.     I won a silent auction at SB 27 put on by the NFL in Pasadena and won a signed oj jersey ,  a football signed by the Bills, and a Bills helmet signed by the team.  A few months later I had them displayed in my office , and one night I was having dinner zand there was the white bronco being chased live on network tv. To make matters worse, someone got into the office a month later , and stole all my memorabilia.     Only thing I have left is two numbered uncut sheets of skybox cards that were printed at the SB  NFL EXPERIENCE.   They are in pristine shape , about 3 x 4 foot , and they have all the bills and cowboy rosters and other pro bowl players.  They printed 20 k of the sheets and they are  seamed and numbered. Had to ship them back to Florida from Pasadena and luckily , I had not displayed they in my office. FINA’s rookie card is part of the set. I wanted to see if he might like the set ( he displays memorabilia behind him on his podcast w Joe miller.  I’ m having some serious heath issues and just want the set to go to a bills fan who woukd appreciate them and keep them. If anybody talks to fina or miller or interested  , maybe pass it on or contact me , I bet fina would love to pass those on to his kids / family, esp now that he is back fully with the Bills organization.

BUT, watching Barry., and Oj as just a football player ,was amazing , and imo, no other backs really came close as pure speed and change of direction instantly  as those two could running backs could do. Henry reminds me somewhat of Earl Campbell power wise, but he runs upright like George more than brutal bowling people over like Earl did.  If the ravens keep running like this in the playoffs , and don’t turn it over , I’m not sure how a smallish team like the Bills can match up.   I like the Bills against everyone else , but if the ravens run and don’t turn it over , we coukd beat them only if our o plays a perfect game.  Without turnovers , they just wear everybody down.

It was easier to be a bigger back in those days.  Most - not all - of the guys you listed would lose to Henry in a footrace decisively.

My “one of one” characterization was meant for right now, not the history of the league.  OJ was one of one for his time.  As was Jim Brown.

Now this game opens the door to the chargers slipping.  They have atlanta, KC, Tampa and Denver.

The colts, Dolphins and even the bengals have to be pretty happy tonight.

well i didn't say smith out produced him I said most of those guys did, but smith was his size.

If you took the 1983 washington redskins and put them in todays game with the perfect playing conditions all over th eleague

and the majority of defense being light and playing a ton of nickel and dime with the rules weighted to the offense

Riggins would rush for 2500 yards.

I can't even imagine what Eric Dickerson would do vs today's defenses.

Not sure I disagree with any of this. But just want to point out that you need to pull out high-end hall of famers to find a comparison that’s better than Henry. That’s not quite the diss that you seem to think it is.

well I took it as all time so thats on me.

A bunch of them would lose a foot race for sure but I still think they were better backs.
