Poleshifter Posted November 26 Posted November 26 I do not think it would sell well in Buffalo. I enjoy watching the UFL, but not a good fit for Buffalo. Quote

They could be in the Big 10 someday if people would invest and in return the school would invest in making that happen What makes you think the Big10 would even want the Bulls? The Bulls have nothing to offer. Buffalo is a small TV market, WNY is not a hot bed for HS talent, and the UB Bulls are not exactly a nationally known brand. UB would better served if it tried to join a better mid-major conference like the Big 12 or the PAC-?. Quote
CaseyatBat Posted November 26 Posted November 26 (edited) laughable comments on UB. They are a basketball school with one of the worst basketball programs in the nation. Nobody even cares about their football team, they should end the program even big 10? lol can you imagine Ohio State playing on Millersport Hwy with a track around the field in front of 200 fans. Interest in and support for athletics within the SUNY system is almost non-existent. Syracuse is now New York State's team anyway. But there is one thing UB has that makes it qualified for the Big Ten: they are a member of the Association of American Universities which all Big Ten schools must be. With their operating budget and paltry NIL, UB will be in the MAC forever, unless a billionaire decides to become their patron, like T. Boone Pickens did for Oklahoma State. Quote

The Sabres, of course, need to do their part, which is a big ask. As a smaller market, there just are not that many entertainment dollars to go around. Especially for what I can imagine the seats/games will cost in the new Bills stadium. 1 Quote

They've been a football school longer than a basketball school. Three of their programs (football, men's and women's basketball) were ranked Top 25 in the past 10 years. Football is 7-4 right now with a shot to play in the conference championship. Attendance still blows. Quote

The other thought is of it’s played in Buffalo home games, then in the worst weather. I seriously doubt for a small market team. Quote

Same f threy hosted a big team like say Penn Start in Bills stadium. Quote

UB average 15k in attendance this year... And they sell more seats than that ... Some mac schools bring in 8,000 a game They've led the mac in attendance four or five times the last 10 years They have three bowl wins in the last 7 8 years Have produced a top five draft pick.. how many other schools have never done that There's 8 bulls in the NFL ... More than lots of schools Edited November 26 by Buffalo716 2 1 Quote

WNY is not a hot bed of talent like Texas or Florida or Georgia But it's still produces more division one football players then New England region, and the Dakotas and West Virginia and Nebraska and Wyoming The Monsignor Martin League.. aka the Catholic League Puts out division 1 kids every single year.. even Bennett the city powerhouse , consistently puts two kids division 1 yearly We had a kid from Western New York sign with Georgia 1 Quote

To be fair, if Ohio State did show up, the stadium would be filled - with OSU fans. 1 1 Quote

Conference expansion is mostly about money. How many eyes will the school bring to the conference. Again, WNY - small market, UB - not a national brand. Division 1 is subdivided by FBS and FCS schools. Handful of talent every year. Great way to make a case for a conference like the Big 10 to come calling. 45 minutes ago, Buffalo716 said: We had a kid from Western New York sign with Georgia Well, that settles it. First of all I'm not the one who said they should move to the Big ten I commented on your comment saying that the area doesn't have a lot of talent When it has been producing Legitimate D1 talent that has gone to every major conference ... FBS talent That's what I was commenting on Edited November 26 by Buffalo716 Quote

I think the market would support a consistent quality basketball program where fans can really buy into a team that participates in the Big Dance more often than not. Quote
