I say it may be good for the Jets if Bezos can do for them what Steve Ballmer did for the Clippers. (Of course, this would be bad for the Bills.) Bezos has a chance of being good. Woody doesn’t. It’s like the Pats sticking with Mac Jones vs taking Drake Maye. One of those is far better for the Bills. 2 Quote
boyst Posted November 29 Posted November 29 There are several reasons I despise this Besos is a very powerful person, and he is not a friend of people. If he gets ownership of the Jets he will push the league to allow media contracts per team. He has the largest platform in the world to deliver such media content short of Elon musk. Amazon will host all of the Jets games all of the content and you will be able to exclusive deals through Amazon for the team from New Jersey Beyond that, he will push more influence than about any owner in the meeting by having the most assets. If this deal ever happened I would hope the NFL makes him give up and it's all games on prime. It is a conflict of interest. 1 2 Quote

Woody is bad. I’ll take the known bad vs. the potential for good ownership. I want what’s good for the Bills not what’s good for the Jets. 1 Quote

Make it Amazon CPU. 1 Quote

This qualifies as "fake news" tbh. If the Jets were for sale, we would ALL know about it and it would be the lead story in sports media across the country. Sans Daniel Snyder, once you get into the NFL ownership "club," you don't leave. 1 Quote

I don’t think people realize the extent of ownership’s role. I didn’t fully grasp it until my time working in sports. 100% of decisions are driven by ownership. They may empower the people to make decisions but it is within their vision. We did things that absolutely weren’t in the best interest of the team, at times, but it was what ownership wanted. Who knows if Woody is selling. That’s irrelevant in this conversation. If he is selling, it’s bad. If he isn’t, good. They will suck for as long as he’s there. 1 Quote
T master Posted November 29 Posted November 29 If a house goes in disrepair the price goes down, if a company isn't doing very well the price of the company usually goes down, so seeing as the Jets suck right now & have for quite a while doesn't that mean that the price of the team should be much less than say a team that is doing very well ?? If the Jets continue on this path they may need more than 1 person to put up their hard earned cash to buy the team given the hill they will have to climb in order to get them back to being relevant in the NFL . It’s not like the Jets are in the red. The MLB is a bit different with no salary cap, but by the same token, the disparity of owners who vote to win with their wallet are obvious. 1 Quote
machine gun kelly Posted November 29 Posted November 29 If the Johnson brothers were smart, they’d sell to Bezos as he can probably over pay, and won’t want to lose twice after Washington. Bezos is worth $226 bil. For founding Amazon. He could easily infuse enough capital for mgmt and coaching, marketing, and then let the football people do their jobs. With a new owner, some of the top talent in coaching like Ben Johnson might Want to go there. They’d want a longer contract as a coach, but like the Walton’s, what does he care. Worked for Denver. Coffeesforclosers Posted November 29 Posted November 29 I don't think the NFL wants Bezos in their club, because they like running their club. Of course they're happy to do business with him and make more money in a second than any of us will make in a lifetime. But I don't think they'll give him a seat at the table. Quote

If this deal ever happened I would hope the NFL makes him give up and it's all games on prime. It is a conflict of interest. The NFL isn't going to the MLB model. They can't afford to. The NFL would have never survived if they hadn't gone to shared media rights, revenue and salary cap. It's the entire key to their existence and popularity. They simply don't make enough inventory with each team only playing 20x(17 real 3 preseason) per year before playoffs. They can't have a bunch of meaningless, regional interest only matchups like MLB can because they can't live off of the gate. The team Bezos should buy is the Yankees. MLB is desperate to level the field like the NFL has but they won't be able to get the Yankees, Dodgers, Red Sox and now Mets to ever agree to that. Those teams, except for the Mets to this point(but that will change), are a money press and applying that money yields results on the field over the long haul. Buying an NFL team is also a money press but only if you follow the rules.......which means revenue sharing and spending limitations due to a salary cap. Edited November 29 by BADOLBILZ note: Bezos already owns part of the Yankees network(YES). 1 Quote
