Does Lamar win the MVP even if he misses the playoffs?

Yes and the Pats get a compensatory 2nd rd pick

Don't count out Miami, which has straightened itself out and which has the easiest remaining schedule.  Not to win the AFCE of course, but to make the playoffs.

I said this last week but no-one agreed.

I would nit be shocked if Baltimore misses the playoffs.

Chargers, Eagles, Steelers, Texans is a brutal final stretch. Plus the Browns, who always give them a tough game and beat them earlier this year.

I think it actually stinks for us, because if we get the 2 seed and Ravens get the 7 seed, that’s a tough wild card matchup.

Not only will Ravens make the playoffs, they will be a team we don’t want to face because we don’t matchup well against Henry and their run game. They are a dangerous team. Best case scenario is the Chiefs get them at home before the AFC championship.

Why is everyone so scared of the damn Ravens?  It's like we've all forgotten when they beat us earlier this season (months ago), not only were we a totally different team on offense, we lost Shakir in the 1st quarter AND on defense we played the entire game without Bernard and Johnson, both of whom would have drastically helped the rushing defense.  Also, we will probably have Milano back for a playoff matchup should these two teams meet again.  I not only welcome the challenge, I think we score first in a rematch and the game isn't close going into the 4th quarter.  Furthermore, I'd feel much more comfortable playing the Ravens as opposed to the Chiefs in the playoffs.  We've beaten Baltimore in the playoffs before.  We've yet to beat this  Chiefs team with Andy and Mahomes in the playoffs.  Maybe I'm alone in my thinking but the Ravens don't scare me at all.  That being said, no team scares me.  Knock on wood, we are actually trending to be healthy for a playoff run for the first time in Allen's tenure.  Let's go!!

Go Bills!!

I’m know we’re a different team and I agree if healthy we’re a handful for anyone. The win against Baltimore 3 or 4 years ago also means nothing because they didn’t have Henry or the receivers.(Flowers, TEs)  They are unpredictable and inconsistent. We could get a version of them that would result in a shootout that might not end well. Give me the Chiefs any day. We matchup better against them. I think McDermott and Babich actually have a good defensive game plan for them.

Agree that was years ago and doesn't have any bearing on this years team.  However, it does matter in terms of 'mystique'.  We've beaten the Ravens with Lamar Jackson in the playoffs before.  We have never done that against Mahomes and the Chiefs.  I absolutely think this gives us a mental edge if we go up against Baltimore in the playoffs just like it gives KC a mental edge in the playoffs against us.  So much of the game of football is played between the ears and this kind of stuff does matter, at least in my opinion.  Also, if you want to factor in the 'clutch' playoff gene, it's hard to argue that to this point in their careers, you have to rank the qb's as follows:  Mahomes, Allen, Jackson.  That said, I think if 100% healthy we take both teams in the playoffs and neither team scares me.

After the win last night, I agree. Had they lost last night, they would have been in trouble.

I agree.  They play GB on Thurs.  if they win that game, I think that might propel them into winning out.

I wouldn’t want to play them in the first round.

Beane built the Bills to beat the Chiefs.  Look at what the Chiefs do well, and then look at our defense.  Fast, on the small side overall, cohesive zone pass defense.  Not built to stop a Mack truck coming through the line. I don't think we'll face the Chiefs until the AFC championship assuming both teams make it that far, but I sure do hope some other team takes on Baltimore for us.

By the way, in last night's game there was a Poona Ford sighting.  He was playing very well for the Chargers after what Joe Buck called a wasted year in Buffalo. What happened that held him back here?  He looks like the big body athlete we never seem to have at DT.

Josh doesn’t have a psychological deficit about KC because he’s been good enough in the losses. The “13 seconds “ ugliness is a McDermott thing. Last year our decimated defense was abused and dominated and only because Josh is great we were in a position to win before Dawkins got beat and Josh got jostled on a game winning throw to Shakir in the end zone. Throw in Bass choking on the chip shot FG and that team wasn’t good enough. This year we have a better defense, better receivers ( last year Diggs sucked and mentality checked out) and our running game and O-line is better. With Josh playing at a level that’s historic, we are better prepared than ever before.

McDermott has always game planned well against the Ravens. Now that we know what they will try to do, we modify the game plan for them

Just win, that's all the Bills can do.

Agreed... just go 1-0 and then do it again... and as many times as you can until the season is over... then lets figure it out.  I am in head down beat the 9ers mode...

Not saying we couldn’t beat them especially in our building, but modifying the game plan with our slight in stature defensive personnel still will offer a challenge stopping a ball control running attack with red zone efficiency like they have. With Henry and Lamar running behind that mammoth O-line, I prefer our chances against KC after someone else eliminates Baltimore.

Don't forget we added 2 DT's.  Not great, but bigger

I get what you are saying and I remember every game and how they all played out just like you describe them above.  Still, these all add up to nothing but a growing list of excuses of why Buffalo has yet to beat KC in the playoffs.  Beat them this year if they cross our paths and that particular monkey will forever be off their backs.

100% this AND we should have 3 guys we didn't have in the first matchup who ALL play a huge part in run defense.  Bernard, Milano, and Johnson.

You’re absolutely right, until you beat the champs you are what your record says you are. Excuses are for losers and we have accomplished regular season success and postseason failures. My point is that our best player doesn’t have scars and always shows up. Our supporting cast is better and new in some cases, more prepared for the challenge.

This has been bugging me for a few weeks. Miami is "back" to what they were supposed to be. Fast and well-timed offense. Their D is getting Chubb back and starting to hit hard and play well. We beat them by 3 points in the playoff game a few years ago with a BU QB. We beat them on the last play of the game in our last matchup. We can beat Miami... but they for some reason scare me the most out of any opponent in the playoffs. They will, for sure, be there.

I actually feel like we are built to beat the Chiefs. I would rather play them over the Ravens in the playoffs as well

No. Their remaining schedule is:

Home to Raiders

Home to Chargers

at Browns

Home to Texans

at Steelers

at Broncos

In that order.

I see them dropping 2. Fingers crossed anyway.
