AFC playoff race

We'll finish either 14-3 or 13-4, depending on if we beat Detroit.  The Steelers will lose at least one more game since they have a tough final 4 games (@PHI, @BAL, KC, CIN).  So we'll most likely finish as the 2 seed and play most likely Denver in the first round.

 

Another thing to think about is that we don't want Baltimore to win the division because then we would play them round 2 as the 2-3 seed matchup.  BAL is 2 games back of PIT right now and PIT has the tiebreaker, but if PIT loses their next 2, they'll be tied (not sure who has the tiebreaker at that point).  If it came down to getting the 3 seed and playing PIT in the 2nd round at PIT or getting the 2 seed and playing BAL in the 2nd round at home, I'd think I'd rather play PIT at PIT.

I was just reading through threads on the Gang Green message board, and a post suggested that with all the lousy teams this year, they hold a playoff format for placement in the upcoming NFL draft. 😁

If the Bills have the #2 seed locked up going into the finale against the Pats, then the Bills will probably rest starters and treat it like a preseason game. In this scenario I could see the Pats beating the Bills.

Chiefs fans are getting very defensive online. I think deep down they know there is a real chance that they are paper tigers.

 

I still think there is a decent chance they drop 2 more games and the Bills win out, stealing the #1 seed.

I just don't want the Ravens to win their division or end up as the 7 seed. I'm not worried about the Broncos or Chargers. I just don't want this defense to have to worry about Henry in the cold.

I don't want the Ravens, but the Steelers will also be a challenge. WC weekend the Bills will probably get the Chargers or Broncos. For the divisional round and AFCCG assuming they make it that far they will probably have to beat 2 of the 3 teams between PIT, BAL, KC

I have 0 fear of the Steelers and Chiefs. I don't think their offenses are good enough to overcome The Bills Offense versus their Defenses.

That Steelers defense is nasty. TJ is arguably the best defensive player in the game. Wilson is playing like his Seahawks days and gives them a deep ball threat. They haven't had that since Ben. The Bills could win but it would be a very tough game IMHO. I do think the Bills would beat the Chiefs. Despite their record the Chiefs just don't look as dominant as they used to. On offense they definitely don't.

This playoff path is starting to make me feel like that bengals team that went to the Super Bowl.  Looks like there’s a good shot kc will knock out the team we match up with the worst for us then I think we match up pretty well with kc.  If we had to go Baltimore then kc I would not like our chances but we may not have to

Oh yea the Steelers are good but there really aren’t gonna be any easy games at that point.  They’re a better option than someone lesser like the chargers upsetting pit then kc gets an easier game and we get stuck with Baltimore round 2

 

of course that’s under the assumption that pit holds onto the division though haha they may not

What about the Texans. Do you think the Texans have a realistic shot to pull off an upset over BAL/PIT assuming they play them. To me the Steelers and Ravens are the biggest threats to the Bills in these AFC playoffs. I am hoping both get upset on WC weekend, so the Bills don't have to play them.

I’m not counting them out, but if the Chiefs win it all again, they will have overcome a lot more than last year.  Their LT situation is a mess. The new guy the signed got destroyed  v the Chargers and now is out with a hammy. Their with-4 pass rush is among the worst in the league and they are now signing guys off the street at CB. Yet in spite of all this they avoid disastrous breakdowns and Mahomes of course always elevates as the stakes rise.

I doubt the Texans beat the 5 seed but you never know.  Yea I think you can make the case for wanting to avoid Baltimore and pit because the bills seem so focused roster construction wise on matching up with the chiefs that those two aren’t good matchups.  
 

It doesn’t seem like there’s any way we can avoid Baltimore and pit though anyway so I feel like best scenario is send Baltimore to kc for the divisional and give us the Steelers at home. 
 

there’s a chance pit and Baltimore flip flop in the division standings then we get Baltimore round 2 instead of pit.  Is that better for us? I’m not entirely sure but it scares me more lol 

 

if we fall to the 3 it’s probably the same choice but we’re on the road instead of at home

Yea it would be pretty tough to apply any asterisks to this Super Bowl if they won it lol. Last year I think a few teams caught them roster wise but they were freakishly healthy come playoff time injury wise which evened things out.  This year I’m not sure that’s gonna be the case

Meh. No defense in the league can stop this offense from putting up 30+ when it's performing as well as it has since adding Cooper. I would love to face nothing but defense-heavy teams the entire way to the Super Bowl. Denver, Pittsburgh, KC is the dream scenario. Or switch one of those teams out with LAC, same thing. I get worried when you start talking about teams like Baltimore or Cincy or even Miami where you know they can drag you into a shootout and I have zero faith in our defense and in our coaching staff to win those types of games.

Six teams eliminated, with the Bengals only having a 1% chance of making the playoffs.

I know it's only 1 to 3% for the Bengals to make the playoffs depending on the model you subscribe too but here is there path to the playoffs if they win out.  If Burrow, Chase, Higgins, and Brown get on a heater they're hard to stop defensively  I know their defense is terrible but Anorumu has made great defensive playoff adjustments in the past.  They're the only potential Wild Card team that scares me.
