Classic Bills at 49ers game from ‘92

To this day, that's still one of my favorite games by the Bills and the fact that every time a runner broke free, he looked like he's rounding third at Candle stick park is priceless.

what’s crazy about my memory of that game was that at no point in time was I worried we would lose that game.

You counter this by scoring first and then trying to increase the lead early.  Force Baltimore to lean on the passing game instead of the run because of necessity and having to play catch up.  I love our chances in the playoffs especially if it's full strength vs full strength and the game is in Buffalo.

That team is built to play with a lead. They play a very annoying to defend offense when they dictate the pace and flow. Henry, Jackson and Hill with Ricard is just punishing and if you cheat Jackson just chucks it over your head for chunk plays.

I don't agree that the line should be 2.5 or 3 if Purdy is playing.

These aren't last year's 49ers.

They're 5-6. The Bills are 9-2 and playing at home.

The Bills are 22-4 at home the last 3 calendar years, and have lost two games TOTAL in the month of December since 2020 -- both of which came in 2021.

Bills are very good. 49ers are not. Bills at home and in December are elite. Bills just beat the Chiefs -- who are objectively better than the 49ers -- by 9 points. Spread is where it should be regardless of QB, IMO.

I agree. Plus bills homefield spread in a night prime time game should be 4 -5 pts as is. ( Normally 2-3)

It's honestly the same up here in Portland, Oregon.

Lots of Seahawks fans. When they're having a great season, you see all the Seahawks jerseys and "12" flags everywhere. When they're anything less than great? Not so much. Even this year, where they're leading the division, I haven't seen or heard much from Seahawks fans.

I sorta think it's a west coast vs east coast thing. Whereas fans of teams like the Bills and Steelers live in cold weather, blue collar cities and live and die with their teams, fans of teams like the Seahawks and 49ers live in gentler climate cities with lots to do and lots of nature and sightseeing opportunities. In my experience, they just don't live and die with their teams the same way east coast football fans seem to. There are exceptions of course, but as a general rule, I've found that it holds pretty true.

I lived in redding ca when the ducks and seahawks were good at the same time...oh boy. Funny how there was a green "0" on every vehicle and lynch Seahawk jerseys for about 2 years in nor cal lol.

I agree with you about west vs east, sports teams in general especially winter are much more die hard on the east. Growing up in nor cal i thought it was weird that people on the east coast will get snowed in and spend the entire weekend inside watching sports. Not thats a bad thing, but like you said we spent most of our weekends outside even in the dead of winter cuz theres little to no snow.

Not to mention the bay area itself is not a "locals" type of city, there's very few generations of families that stay in SF. I will say I do respect raider fans, they are a fan base that's been done so dirty for so long but you will always see triple raider flags to niner flags no matter how bad the raiders are.

This might be my second favorite Bills game of all time!

(Though I didn't remember we won on "wide-right.")

I loved this game as a child but I watched it years later and it was the most non impressive no punt I’ve watched back. Sloppy as hell on both sides. Jerry Rice gets hurt in the game

1000+ yards of offense...  Lots of scoring, turnovers, and  other big plays...  And the Bills won.  What's not to love?

You got that right!  Most frustrating game I ever played.  For you youngsters, this is the game.

The best part was ordering your choice of team uniforms. I had Bills blue and Dallas white.

We had to play with the "generic" players.  You must have grown up on the "good side" of the tracks.

We grew up "on the tracks".  LOL.

I remember marking the players that would run straight.  All I know it was not easy to score!

I was trying to remember where I was able to order the specific team sets.

In 1970, my father bought three tickets to the Bills - Cincy game; this was the first time we had ever gotten sideline seats AND under the roof to boot! They were $7.50 each and I couldn’t believe he spent that much on them. He worked at DuPont and didn’t make much, but he loved the Bills.

Any idea if DeWayne Carter could

Be off of IR?

I believe the bye week he was eligible to return so I’d hope this weekend is a strong possibility.

Which DT gets dropped when he’s back? JP is my guess.

My dad and I went to the Dolphins game that year.  He worked at Westinghouse and had a friend who had season tickets.

He would sell 1 game a year to my dad.  Can't remember what they cost but they were under the "roof".

Raiders fans are definitely the biggest exceptions to my west coast vs east coast generalization.

In my experience, most Raiders fans I've met are fiercely loyal, proud, are NOT fairweather fans, and proudly display their team's colors all year round.

I'd tend to attribute it to the fact that the Raiders spent most of their existence in Oakland, a city which has a very blue collar east coast kind of feel to it. Then again, I know plenty of Raiders fans aren't from Oakland and have never been there. Being a Raiders fan is an identity unto itself, going back to the 1960s. Tough, hard nosed, fierce, rule-breaking, outlaw football. "The autumn wind is a raider", and all that jazz.

Anyway...It's interesting being an east coast Bills diehard living in mellow, west coast, soccer fan country. People think I'm crazy. That's okay -- I probably am.

I wasn't there, but a bunch of us were at my buddy's place watching the game, thinking, is anyone going to make a defensive stop here?......i mean, the game couldn't possibly go back and forth with no punts?........it did and when anyone mentions the Bills top games, i bring up this one.

The Shootout at Candlestick.........good times.

Yeah, Phillips is a good shout but Jefferson would be my guess.

Anyone know how long they can hold off activating certain guys?  I’d hold off as long as possible, in case of injuries against SF and beyond.  Then we can avoid potentially releasing anyone.

My friends and I made up some rules to make the game playable:

Whoever was on offense had the power switch. You could turn the game off to get forward progress if the player started turning.

You could help the player run straight by brushing the players forward on a tablecloth to straighten the feet under the base.

On a passing play, when you get an open receiver, you’d stop the game to throw the ball. The ball could even hit the ground first as long as it bounced or slid into the receiver.

Only way we could get reasonable passing game.
