HOUSE DIVIDED!

This is the first time since my wife and I started dating that NINERS and BILLS are facing off haha.  She’s a die hard Niner fan but also supports the Bills when not playing her Niners.

She’s bummed her team has had a crap season instead of this being two titans playing this week.

It will be a first full day in our new house too…should still be fun…at least for me haha 🤣

I used to go through this regularly when I lived in Pittsburgh.  My entire family are Steelers fans while I am the lone die hard Bills fan in the house...And under Rothlisberger, they rarely lost to the bungling Bills and everyone in my house would holler at me with their terrible terrible towels...

This just isn't true. No player or team is at their best all the time. They aren't robots. Why can't record holding athletes consistently have results at that limit? Because 100 different things need to come together just right for optimal performance.

If it was, you wouldn't see Cleveland beat Pittsburgh or Josh have a game like VS the Texans. Every single team and player has ups and downs in their performance.

You'd be lucky to see any individual player play at their absolute peak more than a few times per year.

You’re getting too caught up in this “absolute peak” language, which is not what I said. The difference between the best and worst teams in the pros is minimal. It all comes down to coaching, execution, injuries, and luck. With few exceptions, the players are trying their best, because their future compensation depends on it even if the team isn’t good.

Exception: Derek Henry. He is phenomenal. Don’t want to face him.

Yeah, Henry, Jackson, with 300# FB Rickard blocking, our D is not built to counter that.

Classic Bills at 49ers game from ‘92

I loved this game as a child but I watched it years later and it was the most non impressive no punt I’ve watched back. Sloppy as hell on both sides. Jerry Rice gets hurt in the game

Does anyone know the practice schedule for this week?  Same as usual?  Or practice today and off Thursday?

They’ll be off today.

Few are

You counter this by scoring first and then trying to increase the lead early.  Force Baltimore to lean on the passing game instead of the run because of necessity and having to play catch up.  I love our chances in the playoffs especially if it's full strength vs full strength and the game is in Buffalo.

Status on Coleman?

Does anyone know the media schedule now that we're on "game week"? I would think McD speaks def by tomorrow which is the usual injury update day.

I readily admit that Miami has a dismal record in cold weather games, but it seems to me they have to break through sometime. They are playing good football and have many talented players and a smart coach.

They will be healthier and desperate next week. Tough matchup and the Bills need to be on their A game.

YES! And they will be hungry! :)

I guess Vegas doesn’t think purdy is playing despite everything coming out of SF saying that he is going to play. If he’s playing, that spread really should be at about 2.5 or 3. Esoecially since it’s likely that Bosa, Trent Williams and Chavarius Ward will all be back. Greenlaw started practicing again too. If he plays, that’s a tough break for us since Devondre Campbell is the guy I’d hope the bills could pick on. He’s been garbage all year. Again this all comes down to Josh and this offense keeping the ball away from Shanahan and hopefully getting an early lead so they can’t pound us into the ground all game. If Brandon Allen starts, then get up early and force him to have to make plays. With the bad weather this feels like a late FG might win it though.

Awesome have fun and drive safe.

just a heads up to everyone. Sometime today Amazon is releasing a doc called “it’s in the game.” Supposed to be about legendary coach, the tech start up, and madden nfl.

I know I grew playing the game. Would be interesting seeing the history. I got an email about it. Just letting others know in case they were interested.

This is BS. Where is the documentary about the vibrating football game I grew up with?  You punks have no idea how difficult it was to throw a pass with that spring arm and felt football.  GTFOH.

I don't agree that the line should be 2.5 or 3 if Purdy is playing.

These aren't last year's 49ers.

They're 5-6. The Bills are 9-2 and playing at home.

The Bills are 22-4 at home the last 3 calendar years, and have lost two games TOTAL in the month of December since 2020 -- both of which came in 2021.

Bills are very good. 49ers are not. Bills at home and in December are elite. Bills just beat the Chiefs -- who are objectively better than the 49ers -- by 9 points. Spread is where it should be regardless of QB, IMO.

I'm born and raised in far northern California and lived in buffalo. Therefore I can tell you there might not be more polar opposite fan bases than bills/niners. As a Bills fan I find them probably the most annoying fan base (even my 2 best friends are niner fans).

Niner fans are extremely fair weather fans,(wierdly the same with sf giants fans) yes there are true fans that support them thick or thin but the mass majority of them disappear when things get rough and show up louder than anyone else when things are great. Let's just say there were almost zero niner flags flying in California during the jeff garcia days. Then the harbaugh sb run happened and wouldn't you know it everything turned red and gold. Wether it was Trent Edward's or josh allen, buffalo flew flags.

I currently work with many niner fans, and I love messing with them, I tell them to name 5 niner qbs without saying young/Montana, and about 1 out of 10 niner fans could do it.

It's honestly the same up here in Portland, Oregon.

Lots of Seahawks fans. When they're having a great season, you see all the Seahawks jerseys and "12" flags everywhere. When they're anything less than great? Not so much. Even this year, where they're leading the division, I haven't seen or heard much from Seahawks fans.

I sorta think it's a west coast vs east coast thing. Whereas fans of teams like the Bills and Steelers live in cold weather, blue collar cities and live and die with their teams, fans of teams like the Seahawks and 49ers live in gentler climate cities with lots to do and lots of nature and sightseeing opportunities. In my experience, they just don't live and die with their teams the same way east coast football fans seem to. There are exceptions of course, but as a general rule, I've found that it holds pretty true.
