It’s kind of like the “Coming Attractions” at the movies - it gives you a heads up that there may be issues. Same with hurricane forecasting - it’s good to have advance warning of a potential problem so people can be aware and make preparations as the data gets refined and more accurate over time. Full disclosure: I have no weather forecasting expertise and I suck at betting on football too. Edited November 27 by WotAGuy 1 1 Quote

The pocket completely collapses around him (what an O-line that year...woof) and all you can see is his arm sticking out of the middle of the pack and he fires it like 40 yards downfield and hits Foster in stride...just an unreal throw. Related thought - a few weeks ago I treated myself to watching the Bills-Cowboys "Coming Out Party" on Thanksgiving 2019. And I did it because I wanted to hear the narrative from Romo and Nantz. (Side note - I'm one of those people who will watch the entire game on Mute, and then replay it later. Too stressed out, and the announcers are usually masters of gibberish). The narrative went something like this: 1st Quarter: "Gee, Jim. Those plucky Bills!" "Yeah, Tony, what a story line after wandering the desert for 20 years." 2nd Quarter: "Boy, those plucky Bills are putting up a heck of a fight, Jim." "Yes, Tony, but...like...we know how this is going to end." 3rd Quarter: "Holy Crap, Jim. If the Cowboys don't score here, they're screwed." "You're right, Tony. Must be something in the water." 4th Quarter: "Gee, I sure hope this wasn't recorded, because I'm going to look like an idiot." "Right there with you, bud." I'm starting to feel optimistic about the 49ers game after the latest injury update. Time to rest Kincaid. I think the Bills have this - especially with the 12th Man (crowd) and 13th Man (weather). 2 1 Quote

Well, to be honest...I moved my snow tire "swap" up from early December to today based on reading all this stuff, and - given that I'm driving from Watertown to Syracuse on Monday - I feel pretty damn good about it. Public Service Announcement worked. 1 Quote

They are calling for snow and I know we always move it when it snows My guess is they are not considering that possibility at the moment. The talk is that more snow is expected south of Orchard Park than at the stadium up to and including the game. Of course, that is subject to change. The other bit of conversation is that this is expected to be a multi-day lake effect event. Total snowfall could be a few feet, but that could be over a span of five or six days. Those who plow snow will be busy, but it is easier to manage that kind of snow total over five or six days than over three days. I'm sure that travel will a messy proposition, but I don't think it will shut things down to the extent that it has for some past snow events. 1 1 Quote

Might not know until the instant it starts to fall. In the 2014 blizzard, we got 7 feet in South Cheektowaga, about 6 inches at the town hall (about 2 mikes away) and nothing at the airport (about 3 miles away). 1 Quote

I wouldn't call them inaccurate. They are accurate as they can be based on the data that they have which is constantly changing up until the day it gets closer. The models aren't the problem, the data that changes as the storm evolves is the tricky unknown part. 4 hours ago, LABILLBACKER said: Someday I'd love to chase a tornado. Definitely a bucket list. Preferably an F1 or 2. Hell no...Fun story...when I was deciding which school to go to for Meteorology it was down between Saint Louis University and University of Oklahoma and both were top 10 at the time for it... Got accepted to both and was reading the stuff they sent about the programs when I read the one from Oklahoma it said that senior year you had to take part in a program with the National Tornado Center also based in Norman, OK where you essentially chased tornados and set up the equipment to get measurements, etc... I was out as soon as I read that...when I see a tornado I am running the other way, not towards it 🤣 Edited November 27 by Big Turk 1 1 Quote

Davante got traded right before the first Las Vegas/KC matchup but Minshew still had a 118 QB rating, now he's out. Tampa was missing Mike Evans and Godwin and still went to OT. Bills were missing Kincaid, Keon, etc.. But we may catch the 49ers minus Purdy, Bosa and Trent Edwards,,, so everyone around the league catches some breaks eventually. As the old NFL saying goes... It's not WHO you play, but WHEN you play them that matters. After I heard that saying, there is nothing more truer! 1 Quote
Big Turk Posted November 28 Posted November 28 (edited) Winter Storm Watch has been updated to Lake Snow Warning for Southern Erie County, the Sounthtowns and Southern Tier for multiple feet of snow... Looks like between 1.5-2 feet expected thru Saturday night on the probalistic snowfall forecast at this point and then another day and a half to add on to that thru Monday morning which likely won't be shown until Friday Edited November 28 by Big Turk 1 Quote
