With respect to those that like them, I HATE watching my team play in snow games.

I hate the injury risk.

I hate how much it equalizes talent between good and bad teams.

I hate how it removes large swatch’s of the offensive playbook.

I like watching *other* teams play in it … but not my own.

This likely isn't going to be a snow game than it being packed along the stands on the field.

Field should be clear and little to no snow forecast during the game. Winds aren't expected to be that bad as they are forecast to be down to 5-10 mph by kickoff.

Essentially it just will be a cold game played with a large pile of snow that can be seen on TV but not on the field.

Yet you never see a 41-38 score in a snow game…

Theyre always 13-7 or something similar 😂

Only high scoring snow game I can think of is that Eagles game in the early 2000’s.

Well to be fair there aren't a lot of games were heavy snow falls during a game .. games I remember

Packers defeated the Tennessee Titans by a score of 40-14  at Lambeau Field in 2020

2013, the Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Detroit Lions 34-20

Then bills 13-7 in the snow storm

Lots of NFL players say weather like snow slows down a defense more than an offense

They have to react to a play they don't know

The offense has ALL the advantages.. they know the snap count , and where they are going

"I think it's typically to the offensive advantage if you know where you're going when the field is a little bit slippery, whether it's rainy or cold, or frozen even," Daniels said. "It's less of a reactionary movement, where I think there's more slipping when you're just kind of reacting to someone else moving or cutting somewhere."

Schwartz, who continues to study the game since retiring from the sport, said one of the reasons he loves playing in the snow is that it provides an advantage for the offense.

"The snow does favor the offense because we're the ones who know where we're going and the defense is very reactionary. And when their footing is bad, they don't move as fast we do," Schwartz said

Sure does sunny and 85 sound great ,sure

But bad teams let weather be a excuse ... Good teams go out and execute

Who are Daniels and Schwartz quoted in the excerpt?

Thanks.

He played against Seattle and put up 13 points against a defense we scored 34 on and against whom we were moving the ball at will most of the game.

I think we will be fine. They have been mostly not good on offense this year.

But NFL math never works. The Ravens defense is 23rd in points, allowing 24.5 PPG, and their pass D is 31st, giving up 277 YPG. We put up 10 points & threw for 180 yards & 0 TDs.

Meanwhile, they lost to the Raiders & Browns, the latter of which put up 29 points on them. So even though the 49ers only put up 17 points against a team we blew out, doesn't mean Purdy won't be able to have much more success against our D.

Not saying he'll carve us up, but divisional games are a lot different than out of conference games. Maybe he'll do awful in the snow, or maybe the snow benefits them more than us. CMC might finally come alive this game, and we'll have to hope Cook can match him.

There isn't going to be any snow. Except by the stands off the playing surface. Light winds 5-10 mph, snow likely over by mid afternoon, just cold.

And the mental effect that will have on the 49ers, most of whom likely have never seen this much snow in their lifetime in one place.  That is a very real thing to overcome and a lot of teams lose before even playing in that environment.

Browns and Steelers scored 27 points in the snowy 4th quarter last week. Some amazing runs and throws in the snow, so much fun to watch.

We literally just watched the Browns vs Steelers in the snow/wind and each team had over 300 yards offense and 43 points combined.

I hear you about the great equalizer, and there are a few opponents where winter weather would not affect them all that much. But, i don’t believe the 49ers are one of them.

They just dont practice and play in winter conditions. And we happen to have a QB and plenty of other players who have excellent experience in winter conditions and excelled in it.

Although i did hear that less than 1 inch is expected to fall during the game, so the big hype of a snow game may just be hype,  not actual conditions. There will be some piles of Saturdays snow pushed to the sidelines and behind the end zone so it will still look good for Sunday night TV.

NE demolished Tennessee in the snow in fairly recent history.  I think it depends on the amount…a little bit of snow favors the offense. An absolute zero visibility whiteout definitely not though lol

people only seem to remember the whiteouts though

I still don’t get how people don’t understand it’s a safety thing for driving and has nothing to do with in stadium conditions.

the government and nfl usually move the games because it’s not safe to travel to them

It's a joke calm down .. and Kathy hochle technically moved it with policarz backing ... The NFL has nothing to do with it

And they didn't care about it in 1975 either

It can be since oftentimes there are wind direction changes that move the bands over different areas so places that are getting hit now might get a lengthy break in between, especially with long lasting events.

Typically bands start in the South towns and/or southern tier, then will move north, then move back south again before ending.

Doesn't always happen, but it happens quite a bit.

No..no it’s not.  If wind directions tend to not vary significantly with a LE event.  If they did, this would throw off one of the main catalysts as to what causes the higher snowfall accumulations.  It’s not just cold winds over warm water, it’s the duration.  The longer the fetch the more significant the event. Granted there’s rules of thumb and forecasting techniques for all events, I think you’re over simplifying LE events.  It’s mostly seasonal, and depends greatly on the path and cold air advection associated with the high.  This time of year, LE is more prominent because the super shallow Lake Erie isn’t yet frozen over, so Buffalo can get hits with a westerly flow (like we’re seeing now) or a NW flow off of Ontario.  With this event models are projecting a lengthy westerly flow off the lakes (don’t see much variability) which is why both western NY and the Watertown area are both being hit.

I didn’t question you i was on your side so calm down

I was just questioning how people don’t understand it and yes the nfl does get involved around moving games and times and work with them

The NFL was not going to move the playoff game but hochul would not let it happen

In Western New York it's pretty well known that she was the driving force

The NFL would have played in front of no fans but she declared the state of emergency and wouldn't let it happen

I do understand public safety but it was hochul who didn't want it ... The NFL wasn't the driving force
