Not absolving the coach and GM from blame because the owner wanted Saquan back too and they went against his wishes but from everything you hear out of there the owner was all in on Jones. Saw this as well and that ownership wouldn't necessarily fire Daboll and Schoen as a result. I am not so sure on the latter...owners know they need to win and HC's and to a lesser extent GM's are blamed first. And, owners don't fire themselves for weighing in on personnel decisions. Gotta have good ownership in professional sports now to be successful. To know whom to hire, when to get involved and when to stay out of football decisions. 1 Quote

The Buffalo Bills are the model franchise in NYS (and NJ!). so Jerry can still eat lunch for free off of those 3 SBs in the 90s? nah Quote

I get the feeling he doesn't want to play anymore, but felt like he had too. He signed a contract to, well, actually play football, for $160M with $92M guaranteed. Yeah, I really feel for him too. Negan Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago Shoen appeared to be a smart guy. He should have asked me if giving that guy a huge contract is a smart idea. I would have told him No, 1 billion times in a row 1 Quote

If anything, they are very similar players. Both were highly drafted QBs who had some arm talent and mobility. They both even played at strong academic schools in the same town. Both showed some flashes of strong play with the teams that drafted them, but ultimately, were not able to play well on a consistent basis. Both guys appear to be intelligent with some athleticism, but just can't process the game fast enough to be full-time successful starters. Both are candidates to be solid NFL backups. Trading Mitch for Daniel, in my mind, would be trading like for like. They may as well stick with Mitch, because he (a) is familiar with the offense, (b) knows the playbook, (c) appears to have good chemistry with Allen and the team, and (d) may cost less. 1 Quote

Barkley on that giants team doesn't move the needle. Its one bad decision impacting another bad decision IMO Quote

Treated him like a son. As I say doesn't let the coach and GM off the hook but I think he did more than just sign the cheque. 19 minutes ago, BillsVet said: Gotta have good ownership in professional sports now to be successful. At least bring in real competition like fields or wilson. I still don't bring back barkley. Quote

Their fans go from Gardner Minshew to Aidan O'Connell to Daniel Jones. WE ARE LAUGHING. All in all, I think I'm rooting for the Bears outcome, just for comedy's sake. Those would be legitimate funny scenarios... and honestly, I am hoping the Jets reach for Sanders with their top pick this year and he is I think a bust... then they can do it all over again.... But a reach for Sanders with Jones as a bridge, letting them win like 6 games and be out of a top spot the following year just to prolong the agony would be equally appealing to me... I think I am a bad person... but I cant help it LOL Quote
bills6969 Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago Lock+Barkley and the Giants are probably a borderline playoff team. Quote
DCofNC Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago Seems like the best option for everyone, he can try to hook on with someone else or take the season off and restart next year. Have to imagine he’s hoping to pull a Mayfield like resurrection, problem is he has never had a great year. Quote
RyanC883 Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago i have a feeling Jones ends up like Darnold. Becomes an average player elsewhere, or a good backup. He's inconsistent, but when he's on, he's been on. He seems to be an average to slightly above-average NFL talent in a bad spot. I'd like him here as a backup. Quote

947 Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago Jones is a guy, who as a backup, "could" win a game for you if pressed into action. In our system with our OL, Jones would be a significant upgrade than what we have. If Allen missed a week, we lose that game with Mitch 90% of the time. It'd be nice to have something closer to a Frank Reich than the garbage Miami ran out there while Tua was out. Quote

Have to imagine he’s hoping to pull a Mayfield like resurrection, problem is he has never had a great year. He had 2 years of QB play that were adequate for an otherwise sound team to win with - his rookie season 2019 under Pat Shurmur/Mike Shula and 2022 under Daboll/Mike Kafka - but supported by a strong run game and before Daboll's ego swelled to a size sufficient to fill a small auditorium at STP with room left over for 2 but not 3 standard helium balloons to maintain full inflation. I say this based on a thing I did back in 2016 where I looked at what aspects of QB play were correlated with winning - completion %, TD/INT ratio, etc. Passing Y/G overall weren't, but there was a floor of passing yards that improved the correlation. And no, I don't know that's what happened to Daboll's ego but there are stories Quote
