Obviously Rodgers and Wilson had won Super Bowls before. Even Watson had accomplished more over a longer period of time before his second contract with Houston or his contract with the Browns. I think there is a pretty good case for Jones being the least accomplished before signing. Sam Bradford and Brock Osweiler who were mentioned already are also good candidates though both were not with their second contracts were not with their original teams. One who hasn't been mentioned is Carson Wentz who was only really good for two thirds of a season before his 2nd contract. Dak Prescott has now gotten two massive new contracts without ever accomplishing a thing as an NFL quarterback…I think that takes the cake. 1 1 Quote
Mr. Irrelevant Posted November 23 Posted November 23 Where will Jones land? Not Buffalo, though he'd be a good fit. A Josh Allen type of QB but without the talent. The Jets? Jones is only 27 and Gang Green NEEDS a change. Best bet is Carolina. Jones played at Duke and Carolina's QB is too small to take the pounding their OL allows. Jones is used to being a punching bag after playing for the Giants. Quote

frostbitmic Posted November 23 Posted November 23 I could see him end up in Atlanta next year as a backup after losing the starter job to Michael Penix. Cousins will likely be the next aging rapidly QB in Jestland. Quote

I say this based on a thing I did back in 2016 where I looked at what aspects of QB play were correlated with winning - completion %, TD/INT ratio, etc. Passing Y/G overall weren't, but there was a floor of passing yards that improved the correlation. And no, I don't know that's what happened to Daboll's ego but there are stories I don’t think he’s “bad”, but I also don’t think he’s even at Mayfield level and Baker is really a mid tier guy. Jones got paid, he’s probably not going to get another big deal. Now we see if he’s really dedicated to the grind or if he just fades out. Edited November 23 by DCofNC Quote
finn Posted November 23 Posted November 23 Could he be a Darnold type, someone who just needs a second chance? Or is he more like Carson Wentz, good early, but essentially not good? I haven't watched him much. Quote
MikePJ76 Posted November 23 Posted November 23 He seems perfect to go to Miami or San Francisco. Quote

I think Jones has the potential to be better than Mayfield - better physical tools, better ability to run. But I think Jones needs the right pieces around him and the right coach more than Mayfield does. 1 Quote
machine gun kelly Posted November 24 Posted November 24 Without any h9merism, I see good fits in SF, and Miami for different, but similar reasons. Assuming Jones wants to at least show with talent and a solid line what he can do, he gets to showcase his talents for a dress rehearsal for any team. Take the league minimum as he already made $15.3 mil. this year. SF- They have a chance to salvage their season, but Purdy’s shoulder is banged up, and could use two weeks to heal. Maybe Jones comes in and makes at least a split. I don’t see them beating us, but maybe a wildcard spot. He’d play behind a great line and a ton of weapons. Shanty is excellent with QB’s. Miami- Tua is one hit away from the season is toast. They have an ok line and phenom weapons based on timing. Im thinking like his agent. What is best for his career. Carolina is not a good fit unless they’ve given up on their second year player. Besides their team stinks which is what he just left. if he takes the vet minimum on a playoff contention team and shines a little, he may get another crack at it in 2026 like Darnold is doing now in MN. In Vegas, Tennessee or Carolina sure I'd start him. Yeah, the idea of benching either Caleb or Maye in their Rookie year is crazy talk. I agree about Vegas definitely, as well as Dallas. Tennessee - maybe. Depends on if they're ready to call Will Levis a failed experiment already. Carolina? They're already benched Bryce Young once. Now that he's gotten the job back, you don't bench him a 2nd time unless you're good and truly ready to turn the page on last year's #1 Pick. Edited November 24 by BillsFanForever19 Quote
