NFL radio was all over this last week on the proposed expectation that he is released this offseason. They had ranked his best landing spots: Kansas city, San Diego being the top spots. They said sitting behind an experienced quarterback who will start for a while, with good offensive minds and a good system in place with the exactly what he needs

That would only happen if a team claimed him via waivers, which obviously none will do.

I think someone will give him an opportunity that is better for him than the Bills next season, even as a stopgap starter to a rookie. He'd be smart to sign with someone like Dallas the rest of the year to see if he can show that the Giants were wrong and get a team to believe in him for next year. Raiders would also be a good option for him. One that might not be a bad idea as well is the Rams. Stafford is on his last legs there and would provide future opportunity.

Ryan Leaf went 4-17, had a 48.8 lifetime rating (very hard to do!), and a career TD/INT ratio of 14 to 36. Daniel Jones, who I think will be a career backup, actually had a LEGIT good season in 2022 - 708 rushing yards, 5.9 ypc, 22 total TDs (15 passing TDs, 7 rushing), the lowest interception rate in the league, and a very respectable 62.9 QBR. He had an AV of 15 (via PFR), which is very good. As a complete QB (not just measuring one counting stat but looking at his production in its totality), he had a good season. The offense overall was 15th in points/18th in yards (middle of the pack) and second in fewest turnovers surrendered.

 

 

To play devils advocate on his "breakout year" - 

• Never figured out how to use his athleticism to drive the ball down the field, it was always runs.  So when the media compared jones 2022 to Allens 2019, it just didn't make sense to me.  
• Still had a fairly high sack rate.  Turnovers will absolutely kill you, but sacks are drive killers just the same
• Poor Yards per attempt.  
• Poor Air yards

I personally think i would've let him walk.  There just wasn't much when i watched that i didn't think could be replaced with Tannehill, Carr, Mayfield etc.

Jeff George at least had a couple of really good seasons with Atlanta before that.

 

I was thinking about the contract Detroit gave Scott Mitchell and honestly the contract Buffalo gave Rob Johnson.

He could start for the Cowboys the rest of the season. It’s possible he could start for the Raiders too. I wonder if he signs somewhere right away.

Dallas could start him on Thanksgiving. That would make that game worth watching

Jones was a first round QB and got some starts in the NFL. That means he can be a back up for multiple teams for the next 12 years a la Tod Collins.

 

He looks like Jim Carey.

 

I don't want him within 500 miles of a Bills locker room.

My eyes start bleeding when I watch Daniel Jones at QB. He is absolutely Trent Edwards awful and the same type of check down Charlie.

I mean... He's not wrong.  The wrong part was the 40M qb being a player you build your team around.

I feel for the guy, hard to be at rock bottom and know everybody in the organization doesn't even want to talk to you.  

 

I get the feeling he doesn't want to play anymore, but felt like he had too.
