Clinch playoffs with win next week

Clinching a playoff spot in 2024 is NEVER the goal.

Clinching the #1 AFC seed is nice, but never the goal.

 

LOMBARDI IS!

 

Only that!

 

That being said, the pre season expectations were subdued- especially the shedding of pricy vet starters & that ghastly Miller contract.

 

And then,the usual round of Bills early season injuries, plus a suspect set of WRs.

 

But suddenly, amazingly it got much brighter. Not white hot- yet, but very bright. Especially,with the brilliant addition of Cooper for spare change. 
 

And essential bodies are healing fast.

 

I don’t believe I’ve ever been so positive about the immediate future.

Still six to go, three very good- good & 3 stiffs!

 

One game at a time.

Not sure that would be right. If we win next week the worst we could finish is 10-7. Indy, Denver, LAC, Baltimore and Miami all have less than 7 losses and are not already leading their division. I think they do though.

 

Yeah just checked it.  If the Bills lose out and Jets win out, Jets win the division.  If the Bills lose out, Dolphins can get the by winning all but one game assuming they beat the Bills.

yea I went through the espn playoff machine and basically did a worst case scenario and even with beating the Niners the bills technically could miss out at 10-7. Though the odds of it are very very unlikely.

Haven’t read the entire thread but the Fish play twice before we play the Niners. If they lose both we clinch the division before we walk onto the field. If they lose one of two we clinch the division with a W.

I saw things like this too... I read the USA today playoff review that said the Bills can clinch before they play with a Jets and Dolphins loss... not sure how that happens... I think they were using the 16 game algorythim... last I checked a Dolphins loss maxes them at 10-7

I tried to do this too and couldn't do it... I must not have tried long enough.

We play on SNF, guessing the dolphins play earlier that day and could lose 2 games before the Bills play

Yes this I get... but the article said 1 Dolphins loss and we clinched... but another one said it was possible we clinched before we played again with 2 Dolphin losses which is right... I was just surprized at how they really miscalculated. The only thing I can think of is they were not thinking that we have a 17 game schedule now...

I think he is saying the opposite... that we have reversed the narrative from being mathematically alive for the playoffs but it aint gonna happen to we can mathematically get knocked out of a spot but its not gonna happen.

Another thing for people to complain about along with missing the high draft positions, the inconvience of the late national games, and now we don't get to  analyze all the possiblitiies to see how we can sneak into the playoffs.  When will it end?

Did this last week

 

 buffalo has 9 W, best jets/ NE can do is 9 wins, best Miami can do is 11. Buffalo has the first tiebreaker with Miami due to season sweep. Miami needs to be above buffalo in wins 

 

next week bills and jets are off. New England plays miami

 

the following week miami plays in thxgvg, jets, oats on Sunday afternoon before Bills play

 

For them to clinch division before starting the game…

 

NE brats Miami, all 3 lose thxgvg weekend then Mia best is 9 wins, jets/ ne 8 wins BUF clinch

 

Buffalo W against SF clinches division if…

 

buf will have 10 W which eliminates jets/NE no matter what they do. With Miami if they L one game ( NE, GB) the best they can do is 10 W but Buffalo has the tiebreaker so Bills clinch.

 

if Miami WE then buffalo can’t clinch by winning SF game
