I'd like to come out as a sci-fi nerd. I like Star Trek, Dune, Foundation, The Expanse, From, Fringe, Silo, Person of Interest, etc.

My wife and i always suspected our son was gay, but he came home one summer with a girlfriend........and now the mystery deepens cause we still think he's gay and we're okay with that.

I had multiple girlfriends, one of them even relatively long term. Didn't make me any less attracted to dudes. If he is gay, or bisexual, or somewhere in between then he will tell you when he's ready. Don't sweat it (if you pardon the pun).

Yeah, we're not sure whats going on with him and we're not worried cause we know he will figure it all out and let us know when he's ready.......he knows we've always got his back no matter what.

It's brave of you to come out, I'm sure it wasn't an easy decision and I'm sure you'll find lots of support in this awesome community we have.  I hope your parents can learn to accept you for you at some point in the future.

 

Also, you realize that if we win our next game, you're going to have to keep coming out to more and more people until we lose, right? 😄

Good for you - I'm sure it was a struggle, and hopefully this is the final piece of karma needed for the Bills to win a Super Bowl.

 

Flip side - I've never had anyone come out to me that I didn't already deeply suspect or know was gay.  I think the fear of coming out and acceptance (or lack thereof) is far worse than the reality of doing it.

If you are seriously asking if we'll still respect you, hell yes we will. The vast, vast majority of us don't care at all.

 

There are probably people who will judge you or not like you for who you are, but that's just life. You don't need to please them and you certainly wouldn't want to be friends with them anyway. Congrats on coming out - I think you'll hear similar reactions from everyone else you tell man.

Well stated.  People will judge you for any number or reasons....  Sexual orientation / Politics / wealth / religion / Bills fan / etc.  Live your life which it appears the OP is on his way do doing.  Good for him.

I have to say I am really shocked by this, threw me for a loop.

 

In the time you have posted, the other 42 posts, I have come to know you so well.  Though I have never met you, don't know your name, and have no idea who you are, I have come to love you like a brother. And this is truer each time I have read one of your other 42 posts, as we have grown a little closer with each one.

 

I just wish you had been more open and honest with us since you started posting. I think we would have accepted you even more, trusted you more...

 

But good luck in your journey. I am sure this had to be very difficult for you to come out to complete strangers, so may be even more difficult doing so with those who know you.
