Probably because Kyle Shanahan lies about injuries more than any coach in football. That said I do think Purdy is going to give it a go.

If he’s healthy enough to go, you have to play the guy.  It’s the starting QB, if he can protect himself and make the expected throws, regardless of discomfort, he’s gotta be out there.   No excuses.  How many times have we seen JA and other greats beat up, but out there for the team?  Purdy isn’t on that level, but he’s the starter, he’s gotta go out there if he can.

I mean it really wasn't. He threw two passes then stopped throwing on Wednesday. At that point it was anything other than obvious. Friday was the first proper practice he had all week.

Sounds like he’s expected to play this weekend. Questionable but all reports allude to him seeing the field Sunday.

And now Purdy is a FA at the end of the season. San Fran. has to pay an average QB top dollar. Perspective?!? OK.

He's under contract for 1 more year, and he'll want an extension after this year.  The question comes down to - is he elevating the offense, or does the offense work around him?  Clearly his numbers have taken a dip as AIyuk and CMC missed time, samuel is not the player he was, and the offensive line has not been as good.  But in spite of all of that, they're still a top 10 offense in yards and top 15 in points.  

 

Being a few plays away from a super bowl championship, and then coming back to an injury plagued season makes me think you have to run it back with a mostly similar team in 2025 and hope you don't get injured.  After that.. they're going to be needing to figure stuff out.  After 2025 - Kittle is 33 and a UFA, Williams has a 39M cap hit in 2026 and will be 38 years old, Tons of dead money tied up in void years for d-linemen, and they're entirely missing talent on rookie contracts. 

 

I think its entirely possible they pull a reset like buffalo did and move out some of the aging players.  I don't know that they can maintain the same success though, because the depth thats played this year hasn't played very well.

I mean the niners can’t beat the chiefs in the playoffs either lol if the bills and niners swapped conferences it would probably be the bills with the two superbowl losses and the niners not makin the superbowl 

 

that’s part of the reason why Super Bowl losses don’t mean diddly
