Ha, yep!  And Bills by 9 and 3-5 feet of snow . . . Maybe a bit less than 3 feet though

That would be better than the Bills by 3 in 9 feet of snow.

I can't take too many more nailbiters... especially with frostbitten fingers.

I gotta say Goff is better than Hurts as a QB

Maybe overall, but Hurts’s ceiling is way above Goff’s.  At the end of 2022, he was at a level that Goff is incapable of ever reaching.

I don't disagree with your overall point - but "at the end of 2022" isn't a ringing endorsement to me. At the end of 2022 Daniel Jones had a playoff win under his belt which resulted in a 4 year $160 mill extension. In the NFL, the end of 2022 is a long ways away.

Meaning he could throw multiple picks in any weather?

A smallish QB with mid-tier arm strength, an inflamed throwing shoulder preventing him from practicing fully in two weeks, training in San Fran and coming into Buffalo for a Sunday night prime time game during a windy winter wonderland lake effect snow storm? Do I have this right?

I suppose it’s possible he rises to the occasion and has an MVP like performance.😂😂

Much more likely he will have a miserable game. Get a few hits on him early and watch him fold. He’ll soon realize he’s in a nightmare football scenario.

Doesn’t matter which QB plays.

Buffalo covers.

Mafia feats. And feasts 😂

I hear you, but Daniel Jones winning a playoff game has nothing to do with what we’ve seen from peak Jalen Hurts.  2022 Hurts was strikingly similar to Josh Allen.

Ya I'm with you- they don't seem to get a lot of respect but they are a damn good football team.

Didn't even have Devontae smith playing as well

That's what happens when you *correctly* draft high end fatboys on both sides of the line. SEC heavy. And go back to that drinking well multiple times per draft!

I'm a huge fan of how Roseman constructed that roster!

No he's not

Hurts is dependent on his running especially in an RPO along with designed runs in order for him to be fully effective

Allen like mahomes or burrow can simply dice you up throw for 350 and not run at all. He's done it a million times

Massive massive difference

Mahomes and Allen scrambling is simply a bonus. They're not dependent on it to be great.

Something as simple as moving Mekhi Becton to guard was both ridiculously simple and brilliant.

Hasn't Goff in 2024 shown over multiple games a historically-rare efficiency (TDs ≥ incompletions) while also continually pushing the ball downfield? He did have that 5 INT debacle against Cincinnati that the Lions WON, but otherwise, has been like peak Kirk Cousins on steroids. (While also having an incredibly productive and diverse and physical running attack, like Hurts has often had, but WITHOUT ANY RUSHING THREAT from the QB himself.)

Hurts is undoubtedly more talented overall, and plays SO well and risk averse in the framework of his system. I just think Goff this year is transcending a bit, given that he is NOT mobile at all, and is stringing together games full of crazy dumb reads and throws. Like Tua and Kirk Cousins but TURBO.

Not gonna lie, I'm having a hard time keeping up. Thread is about Purdy, I replied to your comment comparing Hurts in 2022 to Goff (now) - and now you bring up Josh? What point are/were you trying to make?

Yeah this ceiling talk is fine but he has been around a while - has massive weapons - still not “it”

His ceiling is higher than Goff, sure. The problem is his floor is lower. Goff's median performance is better than Hurts's.

As for being "it." What do you mean by "it"? An elite Quarterback? No, he isn't that. I don't think he ever will be. But he is absolutely a franchise Quarterback and a top 10 guy. I don't agree that that isn't "it." Not everyone can have Josh Allen or Patrick Mahomes. I think since we have had Josh this fanbase has increasingly moved to "well if you don't have an elite guy you have nothing" when looking outside at other Quarterbacks. Man for 17 years we'd have loved someone as good as Jalen Hurts, or Jared Goff for that matter. Top 10 Quarterbacks are still worth having, even if they are not among the top 2-3 guys in the league.

I'll take the steady hand of Goff. He's really impressed me these past couple years.

Back on topic.... Purdy described as limited on the injury report yesterday. Local 9ers reporters saying was in reality "extremely limited" and threw only one pass. I don't think he is going to play.

Honestly, if Purdy doesn’t go I think we could see a lot of key players sitting for the 49ers.

Their schedule to finish is not exactly tough outside of a home game against the Lions that is still over a month out. They get healthy after this week and finish 4-1 they could win the division at 9-8 depending on tiebreakers and a loss to the Bills probably doesn’t factor into losing a tie breaker if every other team in the division has also lost to the Bills.

That was against Houston, not Cincinnati.

Assuming this isn’t outright smokescreen, which is possible, it doesn’t make much sense to play him then. A road game against a non-conference opponent who they still won’t likely beat. Now with poor weather possible. It’s a long season.
