They have accomplished so much more it’s not even comparable. Only to Bills fans. What is the purpose for this constant anti-Bills sentiment. You ended with "Only to Bills fans". Have I missed something, and you are not a Bills fan? That would then make some sense. 2 Quote

Just because I’m a Bills fan, doesn’t mean I cling to this notion that we have somehow arrived at where we need to be. We are in a virtually identical place as the last several years. All of which ended in a very abrupt way with expectations not even close to being met. Maybe it irks me a bit that so many are acting like we climbed that mountain when the reality is we still have a long way to go. Ultimately it’s probably just better leaving these opinions alone. 1 1 Quote

I see. I guess I find dwelling on the past pointless. The Bills are 9-2 so far "this season". I just look forward to what might happen. I was curious about your "Bills fans" statement. 1 Quote

The reality is that many of us have said "you know what, this might be the year" for the past 3 decades. Now we actually have a shot and believe it to be true so yes, we are going to cling onto that hope until it ends. 2 Quote

This conversation is not about hope Bills brother, it’s about a declaration that we have accomplished more than a franchise that has gone further much more often. I actually am optimistic at this time. I didn’t think a chance existed that I would feel this way about this season. But I am and I will always bleed with this team like all of us do. My only argument is WE NEED to do it, just really tired of these hypotheticals and rationalizations that try and place us in a class that we just haven’t reached. Do it. Quote

The other 3 years the Superbowl Champion was the team neither the Bills nor the 9ers can beat in the playoffs. In fact the 9ers can't beat them at all. What is "my thing" is the full body of work. That is what I set out. I don't hide from where they have out perfomed us. But the reality is both teams have the same problem. In crunch time they can't beat the Kansas City Chiefs. 1 Quote

The franchise has gone further before. That is true. No one can deny that. I agree with the sentiment that with the defense getting players back and not having to call AJ Klein from a vacation in to play against Kelce is going to be a big factor come playoff time. Coleman/Cooper/Shakir should be ready to go after this week and not to mention Milano possibly returning. We are getting healthy at the right time of the year compared to last year and the year prior when either all our defensive secondary was injured or all our WRs were injured. 1 Quote

That’s fine Gunner. I respect you as a poster but we are just looking at this different. I measure this team on how deep they get, period. At the end of the day I don’t really care what the circumstances are. Life tends to not care about the “variables” and when you introduce them it turns into a never ending hypothetical. Nobody cares that I overcame X or Y to get to the place I’m at. Life isn’t about these nuances. Have we been the better franchise excluding the playoffs? Sure. We have been more consistent. Our floor is higher but so far there ceiling is higher and I would rather this mo fo be cathedral ceilings with how I look at this. They just have gotten way deeper. We did the whole champions of the decade in the 90’s. Would I trade it for one 2010‘s Eagles or 1990’s Giants/Redskins style Super Bowl? Hell ya I would. We already had won the round as the team of the decade and it’s hard to top the 90’s with that designation. My outlook at this point is pure results. That, we don’t really have. I’m hopeful on this iteration. We will see how it goes. If we don’t make the conference championship at this point I will keep feeling as I do. We need to accomplish more outside the regular season and early playoffs. Edited November 26 by Mikie2times Quote
Orlando Buffalo Posted November 26 Posted November 26 The number of Bills fans who don't recognize this is the most complete team we have had in Allen era is surprising to me. When healthy we can stop the run and the pass, we can run and pass well also. If healthy this team could be the one to get us over the hump but I know it is a long way from guaranteed, but in the NFL for the past 30 decades nothing has been guaranteed 1 Quote

If you only care about results, and ignore nuance and variables, why would you focus on the fact that it was a 4th down play? We only needed two yards and likely win even with just two yards on that 4th down play. Only one quality win? Second win against Miami wasn't a quality win? Seattle on the road wasn't a quality win? Even you acknowledged we've done excellent in the regular season - No nuance or context needed to explain our 9-2 record, right? I don't disagree that our performance in the playoffs has been lacking but some context/nuance there too is informative. Doesn't "excuse" or fully explain our performance but certainly helps explain outcomes. 1 Quote
BearNorth Posted November 26 Posted November 26 Bills and 49ers have 4 common opponents this year Jests, Arizona, Seattle, KC. Bills are 4-0 with an average victory margin of 9.75 pts. 49ers are 2-2 with an average victory margin of 3.5. Bills have played 2 at home, two on the road, 49ers have 3 at home, 1 on the road. +6 seems right. KC is the most recent common opponent and the Bills were +9, Niners -10. 2 Quote

This team has done better than expected for me also. But, your points are spot on. We have been here before and collapsed at the end. This team has serious problems on defense for a championship run. The run D stinks and we have an average pass rush. We also have to contend with coaching brain farts at critical moments. Let’s see if the defensive weaknesses improve after the bye and if we can get the number 1 seed. This team is constructed, as in years past, that Josh has to be practically flawless to win. That’s hard to do across multiple playoff games. 1 Quote

Missing our up and coming rookie WR, RT, DT that was a menace, starting LB and an injured Cooper who still showed out. All the advance stats actually show that Buffalo is exceeding expectations (other than run defense). Which hilariously I think they are awful at but are still somehow in the top 5 I believe? Watch the games, not the numbers. Everyone will tell you Josh Allen had an awful day last year if you look at his numbers against Dallas. Quote

Even if this is finally the time we can see we have passed them, why do you think it's the time we have passed everybody else? We are 1-2 against playoff level AFC teams and we have maybe two wins in our entire run since Allen came on vs actual playoff caliber teams. We blew teams outs for several years and you saw the end result. I don't see how we have some smoking gun that we have finally solved out issues (news flash, it's not coming in the regular season anyway) 5 minutes ago, BearNorth said: Bills and 49ers have 4 common opponents this year Jests, Arizona, Seattle, KC. Do you expect us to be at literal 100% health after 17 weeks? I don't know what stats show we exceeded expectations. We had a better EPA from 2020 to 2022 than we do this year in a singular season. From an EPA standpoint we ranked 3rd vs 2nd in that stretch and 5th vs 10th. We have historically underachieved against our EPA and we are ranked worse than we have been historically. Maybe the whole league has got worse.
