Can you read numbers?

So you're talking about how they played Mahomes. But not how they played KC as a whole.

Why are you talking about fantasy numbers here??

Don't forget a beaten down Phillip Rivers and a young/raw former MVP Lamar Jackson.  I didn't realize we were playing the 2023 49ers.

The beatdown of Phillip Rivers? You mean the game we allowed a playoff record in victory for first downs and yards gained? Then that Baltimore game in a wind tunnel. That singular divisional win we have in the McD era really gets your engine going huh?

I'm giving you the stats he has had in the playoffs vs both of us, which is about as one sided as it gets. They lead the Chiefs by more in both games than we ever have once. Keep plugging.

Fact: SF has lost to KC in overtime and in regulation in the playoffs, with the the regulation game being by two scores.

The bills have lost to KC in overtime and by 3 points in the other game.

I really don't care about Mahomes fantasy stats as that's not the discussion , so Keep plugging👍

They have two NFC championships. It sort of ends with that unless you're in a fantasy. I gave you real stats of what has happened in the playoffs. I gave you real results. You gave me theories and hypotheticals. Maybe this is the year we don't exit again prior to accomplishing nothing. Hope so.

Yes. But The point is they have a weaker conference.

They haven't beat KC in the playoffs, just like the bills. And if KC was in their conference, then they wouldn't have gone to the Super Bowl

What’s your position if its counter to Mikie’s?  Is it that the Bills have been a more accomplished organization than the 49ers over the past several seasons?

No. It's that SF is in the exact same position the bills are in.

Great team over the years who hasn't beat KC.

If KC was in the NFC, then we would be talking about the bills losing to the KC in the Super Bowl, with SF not even getting there

If KC was in the NFC, then we would be talking about the bills losing to the KC in the supe Bowl, instead of vice versa

Except we have never beaten a good team in the postseason and that includes more than KC. The team that we lost to outside KC lost to an NFC team in the Super Bowl. So I know it's really easy for you to assume we would just roll Baltimore last year or the Bengals after 13 seconds, but really, absolutely nothing in our history suggests that would happen. The 49ers beat two legitimate Super Bowl contenders last year to even get to the Super Bowl. They beat Rogers and a 13-3 Packers team the other time. But to you it's the equivalent of our wild card victories over 3rd string QB's. Let Buffalo actually earn it. You don't have to try and give it to them based on some massive hypothetical situation with so many assumptions it stops being logical.

that 2020 Ravens squad was absolutely a good team.

Bills open up as 6.5 point favorites vs. 49ers. This line indicates Purdy isn't playing.

After the news of Purdy missing the Packers game broke the 49ers went from a small underdog to 5.5 point underdogs. I don't think the Bills would be 6.5 point favs with Purdy playing, likely would be in the -3 or 4 range

Neither team looked good, but yes, a win is a win.

That aside, we've won a bunch of WC games, mostly against backup QBs. Then we choked against KC twice & got blown out by the Bengals. And out of all 4 of our elimination games, Allen only played great once. Every other time he's been average or below average.

We need to beat a GOOD team in the playoffs again. The 49ers of years past have definitely accomplished more in that department.

I have a couple counter points for you:

1. I would bet that the highest probability that a team would be the Chiefs in a game (49ers-Bills) would be the 13 seconds game. Not only did the Bills have to play terrible defense but the Chiefs won the coin toss which resulted in a rule change. You are right though: I'm not sure if the Bills beat the Bengals; though ironically I think the Bills beat the Rams

2. Bills did beat Lamar. Yes it was in a windstorm but it did happen. Their last 4 postseasons have been ended by 2 of the 4 elite QBs of today; which is something the 49ers cannot say (though: Purdy getting hurt against the Eagles killed them). Brady won 7 and Manning won 2, how many do you think Manning would have if Brady didn't play? How many would Brady have it Manning didn't play (Manning did knock out the Patriots 3 times). Unforunately the two teams most devastated by the Chiefs current reign have been the Bills and 49ers in that exact order.

While it's great to win the NFC Championship game the failure in the Superbowls have led to the NFC being labeled the weaker Conference.

It’s really unfortunate we keep finishing 2nd or 3rd in the AFC making it difficult to face a juggernaut in round 1.

Colts and Ravens in 2020 were very good teams - the Ravens were more than very good.

The Chiefs at Arrowhead.  13 seconds.  Not a win.  But what else is Allen and the O to do.

None of that matters anymore.  The cancer that held us back the last 2 playoff runs is gone.  Hope that’s pretty clear to all by now.

This is the best team of the Allen era - and should only get better as Keon, Kincaid, Shakir and whoever else we add to that continues to develop.

Just keep praying for health.

The last year the NFL eliminated the 2 seed bye the Chiefs won in the 2nd seed position. Since that time the Bills have gotten the 2 seed 3 out of 4 times.

These takes are reasonable. I only engaged in this thread because the insane cockiness of some posters is just really off putting. The regular season has never been this teams issue but I guess we can stamp our ticket now that we beat KC? It was always about the postseason and we have done very little in the postseason. Far less than the 49ers. We have no basis to claim we are more accomplished unless it’s regular season accomplishments and to just shift the whole argument to, well, the NFC is bad. I don’t really think that’s close. I don’t think we beat the Lions and Packers back to back last year. They have accomplished more than us. But really, it doesn’t matter. They won those games. We didn’t. Only the teams that lose come up with these rationalizations. The winning ones don’t have to.

I think matchups are important in the playoffs. I think the Bills would of had no problem with the Packers of last year. They struggled running (especially in the red zone) and played right into the Bills strength. I honestly only see the Bills beating the Lions one way: get ahead and get them away from that running game. Overall I do agree though: If you asked which team has had the most success the last 5 years besides the Chiefs it would probably be the 49ers. Even though they didn't win the SB they made it there twice and have had great teams. The real question would be would the other teams: Bengals, Eagles, Rams, Bills, Ravens. All have had different degrees of success and failure. The Bills don't have the Superbowl appearance but have won their division 4, soon to be 5, times in a row. Have finished as the 2 seed 3 times in the last 4 years while a team like the Bengals have that SB appearance and a 2nd AFC Championship game appearance but have missed the playoffs, only won their division twice and have never finished higher than the 3 seed. It's really how you define success
