NFL Network just had a bulletin Purdy out on Sunday vs. Green Bay, Bosa also ruled out.

Well, we’ll see if Purdy really was any good or a schmo can come right in and be just fine.  SF not sitting well at 5-5 anyway though, in my opinion proof of what CMC meant their success last year v Purdy.  I always thought that Purdy in the MVP discussion was ridiculous.

49ers HC Kyle Shanahan announced QB Brandon Allen will start Sunday against the Packers in place of the injured Brock Purdy.

I've never even heard of Brandon Allen. Apparently he started 5 games for the Bengals during the COVID season.

Yet there are still plenty of “experts” out there beating the drum for Purdy.  I myself think he’s a mid-level NFL starter incapable of putting a team on his back.  He has been blessed with some of the best talent around.  That team would be literally unstoppable with a top-10 QB.

I think Purdy is basically Tua. They are both pretty good. Definitely starting QBs. They've shown they can effectively use playmakers (not all QBs can, so that's something).

But I don't think either will really carry their team to a win, and I wouldn't break the bank of a huge contract for either.

Bosa and Purdy out.  Cuz you know, why play them when they are limited against an NFC team that matters instead of resting them so they are healthy(ier) against the out of conference Bills.

Ya mean like the guy in Buffalo that grew up idolizing the 49ers?

You put him with Tua eh?

I for sure see your argument as you can say they both play in a good sytem, but IMHO I think Tua is much better.

Tua is significantly better, IMO.  The only real similarities in the pros are that they’ve both been blessed with some awesome weapons and offensive minded HCs.

The difference is Purdy wins games...while Tua not so much.   At the end, it is the W-L record that counts.

100 percent agree. I know Dolphins didn't have a capable backup, but their offence went from one of the better ones in the league when he was in, to basically a high school offence when he was injured

Purdys team is so much better. They had like 8 or 9 all pros on their team last year, not too mention Shanahan is a better coach than Mcdaniel

W-L record is not just a QB stat, just look at Joe Burrow this year

Huh? They lost the super bowl in overtime.

The Fish have a schitty D.  So much more to it than just looking at a W-L record.

Being a 49ers QB means he will pry throw for 400yds

Kyle Shanahan does seem to have a very QB friendly system in San Francisco.

Until that top 10 Quarterback deliberately made a play off script at which point Kyle Shanahan would lose his ***** with him make absolutely clear there is only room for one star on that offense and it has to be the playcaller and immediately bench him for whatever Matt Schaub redux happened to be wandering past Levi Stadium at the time.

I mean I exaggerate slightly..... but only slightly.

Purdy being NFC Tua mostly works for me as a comp, except I'd rather have Purdy 10 times out of 10 IRL. His weapons have been oft-injured, he's an underrated runner (and thrower tbh) and he plays in the same system for the most part as Tua, who happens to also have absolute game breakers at nearly every skill position around him in Miami (minus O-line sometimes)...

Hill

Waddle

OBJ

Washington (pipeline)

(ELITE top-end WR room and not many 3+ WR looks)

Smith is at least an OKAY TE

(lack of TE depth could matter for threat of frequent multiple-TE packages--maybe Ingold gets reps there?)

Achane

Mostert

Wright

Wilson Jr

(ELITE RB room)

The thing is that Purdy is also the reason why there are 8-9 all-pros/pro-bowlers on that team...
