The stained glass gives you cool blues and greens in the morning sun, and reds and oranges at sunset. It feels like you can reach out and touch the light. It’s very hard to describe. I found it to be more impressive than the Sistine Chapel. As for museums, I preferred the d’Orsay in Paris over the Louvre. The art is just more relatable and basically the art chapter that came after the stuff in the Louvre. I was surprised to learn that the Mona Lisa was actually stolen long ago. It was felt that because it was relatively small and of a woman it was less important and might not be noticed or be a big deal. We took our grandson to the Museum of Natural History in NYC a couple summers ago. It was cool to see the museum again, and even better to see it with a wide eyed 9 year old boy. Oh my, can't believe I didn't mention Sagrada, I literally took over 1,000 pictures whilst there. Quote

When I was a kid, the museum, whatever they call it now, had the Fabergé Egg collection pass through. I thought they were awesome. Now I remember the freedom train for the bicentennial , pretty cool. 2 Quote
BritBill Posted November 25 Posted November 25 Egyptian Museum - Cairo. Totally fascinating and historic. Just ignore the bullet holes on the front wall where Islamist fundamentalists shot at some German tourists. Natural History Museum - London. So fascinating and always something different to see when you go. Slightly different and not technically a museum but Ripley’s Aquarium in Toronto is the best of its kind I’ve ever been to. Quote

Could have spent several more hours there. I understand the expanded museum, covering all of WWII, is excellent. Need to get down there to see it. Quote

I went in 2021, I think, and it was not completely finished but close to it, and we were there from 9 am to 4 pm and left because my daughter was so hungry, my son was willing to forget his hunger in order to continue and he was 16 at the time. 1 Quote

Pecos Bills Posted November 26 Posted November 26 The Armstrong Air & Space Museum in Neil Armstrong's hometown of Wapakoneta OH is a fun little museum for the family: it's free with an Ohio History Connection membership. https://www.armstrongmuseum.org/ Quote
