It is a catchy song, but the lyrics/meaning are so unbelievably out of place to be played at a football game. It just feels bizarre that that is the Bills song. It’s about some dude catching his girlfriend cheating! anyone have a similar reaction? It's a fun karaoke song, everyone knows the words... I'd try to remember that we're there to have fun. Quote

Nothing screams "let's go Buffalo!!" quite like: "Now they're going to bed and my stomach is sick And it's all in my head, but she's touching his He takes off her dress now "cuz I just can't look, it's killing me" lol wtf... 1 Quote

I think they play it between quarters if I'm not mistaken? It's usually just like a boring tv timeout of people standing around. 1 Quote
Bills!Win! Posted November 22 Posted November 22 9 hours ago, Big Blitz said: “In the Air Tonight” I’m pretty sure is Phil Collins singing about his divorce. In the 40 years since, it’s now become a hype song for most everything. Make of that what you will and overthinking what the meaning of these songs are and if they apply to the proper event or whatever. I like how Mr. Brightside has become what it is to the team and fans. Apparently so do 70,000 plus in the stadium when it hits. We didn’t deliberately copy anyone either. It was the result of a viral video from Knox’s wedding where the core of this team is shown singing and dancing along exuding pure joy and love for each other. That perfectly captures the relationship between the team, its fans, and the incredible run this has been. It’s gonna hit so hard at the parade. I’m not sure why that song would be a good wedding song Quote

The amount of time I spend watching the Bills / re-watching all 22, contributing to this forum, listening to podcasts etc.... my partner would prefer it if I were cheating. 3 Quote
GottaRun Posted November 22 Posted November 22 22 hours ago, Miyagi-Do Karate said: I do agree with those that say that maybe the lyrics don’t entirely matter. The issue though is some of the lyrics are just plain awkward. “Her hand on his chest. Taking off her dress.” Awkward for a stadium anthem. Also "while he's having a smoke and she's taking a drag" doesn't really mesh with the corporate crackdown on smoking in the stadium (yes I'm bitter) 1 Quote

That made me spit my coffee in laughter. Thanks !! From what I've seen in this thread, I think it's just me, but when I first heard (in a post here) that Mr Brightside was played at the stadium in Sept, my first though was that this is the one (and really only) song that could capture the gut wrenching feelings of being a bills fan (and player) for decades, while also capturing the magic of the present moment. My second thought was, it's a shame this is a one-off experience and that should be our anthem in a super bowl winning season. Actually I'm pretty sure it's just me, but it is the perfect anthem for our boys. At the perfect time. Glad it's become a thing. Love it !! 3 1 Quote
