It’s jumped the shark. Only the pink hat bills fans like it now.

also a song I loved but I can’t listen to it anymore. Besides getting played out, it’s about a guy getting cucked and it just repeats the same verse twice!

It is horrible.  BASIC in every sense of the word.

I loved the energy from it on Sunday, but I thought the specific choice of song was strange.  My 67 year old dad wasn't quite sure what to make of the lyrics as it seemed rather... explicit?  It was kind of weird to be there with my dad while that was blaring.  I am not a music guy so I had never heard the song before.

There are better choices... Enter Sandman?  Final Countdown?  I do like that it isn't forced but otherwise it was kind of awkward for me.

I don't see why. If you are in the stadium you can obviously see how effective the train whistle is. We're like pavlov's dogs, that ***** goes off and people lose their minds.

And I like the song, most people know some of the words already, and it's a fun experience. It could be any song, I don't care what it's about lol

People on message boards overthink things.

just pretending i didn't know you know the take on the train whistle.... most people including Bills fans, hate it.

That’s exactly what I’ve been saying. It’s dumb to do at a football game

Most rock song are stupid when you think about them.  Fun sing along song.  Thats about as deep as it goes. You want to find meaning in the lyrics go for it.  Been out for 20ish years.  Dont stop believing is about a hooker and lonely guy. Similar reason for the popularity.

I do agree with those that say that maybe the lyrics don’t entirely matter. The issue though is some of the lyrics are just plain awkward. “Her hand on his chest. Taking off her dress.” Awkward for a stadium anthem.

Waddya mean?  Those lyrics are played out in parking lot jersey purchases all the time.

😂

I’m offended.  There are 13 incredibly insightful pages about a Kermit the Frog effigy you are missing out on.

no way. You weigh internet opinions too high. It’s really a very small portion of the fanbase

I am torn on the Mr. brightside thing. It is a catchy song, but the lyrics/meaning are so unbelievably out of place to be played at a football game.

It just feels bizarre that that is the Bills song. It’s about some dude catching his girlfriend cheating!

anyone have a similar reaction?

Yes. You almost NEED the backstory for it to make any sense IMO. So I concur with your sentiments. It's kind of corny but fun. I LOVE CORNY

lol

If you want something more football related, there is Get Back Up by Barenaked Ladies, but it's not well known, and not quite a sing along except for these lyrics...

"Get back, get back up
You gotta get back, get back up
You got a whole stadium on their feet, it's not about a victory or a defeat
See you gotta get back, get back up
You gotta get back, get back up"

I used to like it as a potential Bills anthem, but soured on the thought when I found out other teams outside the NFL have played it far longer than the Bills have been playing it. It is kinda like when Bills fans got their nuts in a monkey wrench when "Bills Mafia" took off and fans of other teams tried to call themselves " _____ Mafia". It loses it originality, kinda like Mr. Brightside with the Bills.

Damn young people wanting their own rally songs, get off my lawn! 😁👍🍸🚬

Im surprised so many here hadn’t heard it before. It’s not new. A lot of the young people singing it weren’t alive when it was on the radio 21 years ago.

People have said the same about AC/DC and it's just not true. There are so many nuances about this song that artistically are very clever. Is it the best song ever? Nah but it's for sure not horrible or basic.
funny thing. I happened upon a video of Megadeth's drummer playing along to this song after hearing it for the first time. He was a little humbled by the style and energy of the song and its technicality within its simplicity.

For sure...

It sounds so weird hearing 60,000+ people singing "She's touching his chest now, he takes off her dress now..."  in unison at a football game

But it seems to fire everyone up so whatever works!

Who has said that about AC/DC they can meet me in the parking lot.

Yeah like I said they've been playing it at Ranger games in the Garden for years.  Bills fans think it's their own special li'l thing?  LOL.

Just a great tradition that apparently sprung up organically, not one forced on the game, like that train whistle.

Am I the only one who finds the train whistle utterly obnoxious?
