I always remember week 2 in 2015, Rex talked so much crap all week on how to stop Tom Brady and what a great plan they had.

In the video I posted yesterday (1 hr+ long interview with Rex on a podcast) he said he has always wanted to continue coaching but never got a single phone call or interview. It was in response to one of the guys saying he was shocked Rex left coaching. 

 

He mentioned that he reached out to Dallas last offseason to be DC thinking that it would give him a loaded defensive roster and a way to become a HC again down the line.

I remember being dumb enough to buy into the hype that day.  The Bills had a good opening game against the Colts that year.

File for Freezing Cold Takes but Rex could be great for the Jets. He'd bring energy and fun to a lockerroom that needs it after going through Rodgers drama for 2 years

 

The crux of his failure here was shoehorning his 3-4 scheme onto a team who's big name defensive players were suited for a 4-3. Don't have to worry about ruining a great defense here! On the other side, they'll likely be looking for a QB so an Anthony Lynne scheme (Rex's most likely OC choice) that showcases Breece Hall wouldn't be the worst thing in the world.

It is interesting because Rex made an immediate impact when he arrived on the scene to coach the Jets. They made it to the AFC Championship game his first few seasons there -- and then crashed and burned after that.

 

When he came to Buffalo, Rex made an immediate NEGATIVE impact. Recall that when Doug M. left the Bills almost made the playoffs (9-7 record) with Kyle Orton at QB and a top notch defense coached my J. Schwartz. Rex chose to dismantle that defense and wound up regressing in a major way in virtually every category.

I’m just going to say it again. No one - NO ONE - is that stupid.  
 

Bills should have made Schwartz HC instead of that clown who went out and destroyed what was a really, really good D under Schwartz.  That’s why I always wonder about folks who call for McDermott to be canned (obviously less of that lately).  If you look at Pegula’s hiring Ryan and his entire history with the Sabres, odds are he just got very lucky with McDermott and Beane.

Rex is starting to ratchet up getting his interest in the Jets HC job known out there.  Yesterday on Bart Scott's show
