Athletic reporting he will likely be benched or possibly even cut once the playoffs are mathematically out of reach. The Jets will have a different Quarterback by the time they come here at the end of the season.

I tend to agree with what you wrote.  Even after the bad loss to Denver, the Jets still had life at 2-3 and were taking on what appeared to be a struggled 3-2 Bills football team.  Benching Rodgers then would make zero sense

 

And yet you can make the same argument about the Head Coach and he was fired.

What Cimini said on his podcast was that it some people at the meeting thought Johnson was serious and others thought he wasn't.  He felt it was most likely Johnson wasn't serious in the sense it was more "What if we bench Rodgers?" rather than "Bench Rodgers".

 

I've been at enough meetings like that that this seems reasonable to me.

I remember when the Jets traded for him how insufferable Jet fans were. They thought this guaranteed the AFCE Crown and at least one Super Bowl. And most sane people laughed at them and said...juuuuust wait

No one wants to be on the hook for injury guarantees once eliminated. I wonder if we see the commentary we did about that with DangeRuss being benched last year for the same reason.
