GunnerBill Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago Athletic reporting he will likely be benched or possibly even cut once the playoffs are mathematically out of reach. The Jets will have a different Quarterback by the time they come here at the end of the season. 8 hours ago, JohnNord said: There was a follow-up to this report from a Jets reporter, I believe Rich Cimini who said Johnson wasn’t serious by that suggestion. I tend to agree with what you wrote. Even after the bad loss to Denver, the Jets still had life at 2-3 and were taking on what appeared to be a struggled 3-2 Bills football team. Benching Rodgers then would make zero sense And yet you can make the same argument about the Head Coach and he was fired. 1 Quote

What Cimini said on his podcast was that it some people at the meeting thought Johnson was serious and others thought he wasn't. He felt it was most likely Johnson wasn't serious in the sense it was more "What if we bench Rodgers?" rather than "Bench Rodgers". I've been at enough meetings like that that this seems reasonable to me. Edited 6 hours ago by Billy Claude Quote
BuffaloBillyG Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago I remember when the Jets traded for him how insufferable Jet fans were. They thought this guaranteed the AFCE Crown and at least one Super Bowl. And most sane people laughed at them and said...juuuuust wait I love this for those people. Quote

No one wants to be on the hook for injury guarantees once eliminated. I wonder if we see the commentary we did about that with DangeRuss being benched last year for the same reason. 1 Quote
HappyDays Posted 48 minutes ago Posted 48 minutes ago I love that you can immediately tell from these conflicting reports that Woody Johnson, Aaron Rodgers, and Joe Douglas are using the various insiders to engage in a public blame game battle. That franchise exudes dysfunction and they'll have a hell of a time convincing top coaching and front office talent to join the circus in the upcoming hiring cycle. Quote

I'm no fan, but not sure he's just an A-hole. look at his career--it began after much college hype and the most infamously sad nearly cleared out green room where he sat there with all that gel in his hair and a cruel camera broadcasting live his mounting anguish. Then he has to sit behind Favre for 3 years. He wins a SB in his 3rd year and ha to feel it's just one of several more to come, having beaten a guy like Big Ben, who won 2 SBs despite not really dominating either game. Yet that would never happen-2010 would be his only trip to the SB. Instead he would have to watch a guy with an actual chip on his shoulder dominate the NFL for decades win 3 (of 4) more SBs in 5 years and, cruelly, come out of retirement to walk on to an NFC team and beat Rodgers in the playoffs (a game in which Rodgers famously choked away a win) on the way to a 7th Lombardi. Ouch! His career never turned out the way he had hoped. Lots of that is on him. But he has been miserable over it since day 1. His "last chapter" has, unlike Brady's or even Favre's, been a total disaster. It has completely tarnished his career. Plus, and maybe the worst part for him, the Packers are just fine without him. That SB win was a million years ago..... Quote
