There are multiple factors. And the stats aren't lopsided. Like, 2 more TD's and 2 fewer INT's? That's supposed to convince me? Here is the most important stat 2023 - Balt 13-4 No. 1 Seed Add Derek Henry, 2024 -Balt 11-5 No. 3 seed at best 2023 - Bills 11- 6 No. 2 Seed Lose Top 2 receivers, 2024 - Bills 13-3 No. 2 Seed Simply put, the Bills lost key players on offense (and Defense) and got better, while Baltimore added HOFer Derek Henry, who has had a great season, and got worse. Just for those interested. 2023 Lamar - 3678 yards passing 24 Tds, 7 ints, 821 yards rushing 5 Tds, 7 FL - Total yards 4499, 29 TDs 2023 Josh - 4306 yards passing 29 tds, 18 ints, 524 yards rushing 15 tds, 6 FL - Total yards 4830, 44 TDs Not sure how Lamar was the MVP and Josh only 5th in the voting. I guess record mattered last year. Edited December 31, 2024 by GASabresIUFan 1 1 Quote
Punch Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 Charlie Kolar is the 3rd string TE for the Baltimore Ravens. It's no surprise he'd back his teammate but he chose to do so in an inflammatory way on social media. Reap what you sow. 1 Quote
zow2 Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 Someone can link the segment later, but on First Things First, Broussard broke down the MVP favorites by 4 categories and assigned points to them. He said that's what he does for his NBA MVP vote. Anyway, Josh won with 9 points, Lamar and Saquon each had 7. Regarding historic precedent, I thought it was interesting when he said no one in the NBA who had 2-MVP's ever won a 3rd MVP until his team won a Championship. Nick Wright made a pitch for Darnold as MVP if he wins the #1 seed next weekend. Individual Stats Team Success Supporting Cast Historic Precedent 2 Quote

About anything? https://billswire.usatoday.com/2024/12/28/fox-sports-emmanuel-acho-buffalo-bills-josh-allen-mvp-2024-nfl/ I watch that show a few days per week. Acho has been very pro-Allen all season. The last couple weeks he's dialed it back because they run an MVP segment everyday and they need good debate. Acho is also very aware what it means historically to award someone 3 MVP's who has not done much in the playoffs. He's not going in that direction. Quote

Definitely won't be unanimous and maybe closer than people think as award is week to week narrative. So see both Barkley breaking the record and Lamar putting up numbers next week to make it close. Barkley will get votes. If people think this is just about Josh and Lamar then they will be mistaken. If people think JA has this by a ton... they will be even more sorely mistaken... 1 Quote

Having INT=TD is bad but say a 10% differential between player stats is just noise. 2020 panel included: • Peter King, NBC Sports • Tony Dungy, NBC Sports • Chris Mortensen, ESPN • John Clayton, ESPN • Jarrett Bell, USA Today • Bob Glauber, Newsday • Rich Gannon, CBS Sports • Suzy Kolber, ESPN • Adam Schein, CBS Sports • Michael Strahan, Fox Sports Why show a partial panel from 2020? Has nothing to do with this year. The panel of 50 MVP voters has already been listed on this site. Anybody can see who the 50 voters are NOW, which is what matters. The morning ESPN guys still believe in Allen which is nice. But Sunday night and Monday evening on ESPN it’s been mostly making a case for Lamar or it being very very close. And when they show the stats they never ever show total turnovers for both Allen and Lamar while last year Allen’s total turnovers were THE only narrative that apparently mattered to any talking head on tv. I think Allen will win the MVP, I think it’s going to be a pretty close vote unfortunately. And even worse I think a lot of tv talking heads and plenty of morons of social media will spend days if not weeks disparaging Allen’s win and that to me is the real shame. He will finally get what should be his finest individual accomplishment come true and there will be plenty of morons on ESPN and other outlets who will go into great detail of how Lamar was robbed. Count on it. Quote
