It’s wild that Lamar has almost 1k more yards than Allen. I think having a bad defense actually helps in terms of volume stats. Look at the yardage Burrow is racking up. Allen has sat quite a bit of time in the second half, or just had times where the Bills were handing off to run the clock.

Just like Watson in 2020 who had almost 5000 yards passing on a 4 - 12 Texans team.  Garbage time stats further enhanced by throwing against prevent defenses for a quarter per game can really boost the yardage & TD numbers.

If the Bills beat the Lions, and if Allen plays great in the win, he's the MVP. If he lays a stinker in that game, people won't think the Ravens & Texans games were a fluke.

Agree, but Bills/Rams is the Fox Big game of the week in the Sunday 4:25pm window (which we all know is the window that grabs the largest ratings of the week).  So this weekend and next Sunday 4:25pm CBS at Detroit are basically nationally televised games.

To your point i’d say he has to do well in both these games. lead the team to some scores, preferably no turnovers and hopefully wins. Then i think he’d clinch it.

If the Bills win out he should be the heavy favorite.  His box stats are very aggressively mediocre this season though, so if he's only throwing for 150-200 yards the next 5 weeks and Saquon breaks the rushing record I could see Saquon win it.

There’s only been 7 teams ever before with 15 wins or more in the regular season.  If the Bills go 15-2, even if Saquon breaks the rushing record, I don’t see how Josh doesn’t get voted MVP.  The year that Eric Dickerson set the rushing record, Dan Marino still won MVP instead.  I guess unless the Eagles are 15-2 too, but I’d still argue Saquon has Jalen Hurts alongside to help.

Saquon's situation will be interesting.  4 of their 5 games left are against the bottom ranked rushing defense teams.  and honestly, home games vs Carolina, Dallas and NYG should not be close if Philly continues to play as a top ranked defense.   If the Eagles get healthy leads, would they continue to run Saquon and risk injury or use some of the backups?  It would be outrageous if he gets injured chasing a record, since his health is paramount to securing a Lombardi trophy for the Eagles.

We've seen in a few games this year Allen being pulled very early..  can you imagine the accrued Allen stats being left on the table due to being pulled with 12 minutes to go the other night?   The Bills had at least 2 more possessions in that game and if it was a relatively close game they would have moved the rock.  I think Josh came out of the game or shut down his passing and running very early,  vs Miami (1st game), Jax, Tenn, Sea and SF.

It makes sense why last season when the Bills fought to the 11th hour in the final game to get in, Allen had 44 TD's and offensive stats were great, while Lamar only had 29 total TD's and 600 fewer yards passing.

Sad but true.

If you stack up all of Josh's accomplishments, it's amazing he hasn't won yet.

The MVP should go to the guy who helps his team the most.  Josh is there.  The turnover stats - while I don't like them - are far overblown.  What he's done for the team far, far outweighs the turnovers.

Regardless of what Saquon does, I think Josh should win MVP just because he was wrongly overlooked in previous years.

What Barkely has done is phenomenal. However, I wouldn't call him MVP as the Eagles run game was pretty potent without him last year. Whereas can you imagine the Bills without Allen? Even with the Ravens, as good at Jackson has been this season, I think Henry is nearly equal when it comes to their offense.

I think the Ravens would crumble without Lamar, even as well as Henry has played.  But that just shows how vitally important the QB is.

On the other hand, if Saquon and Henry get injured I think the Eagles and Ravens are still good teams.  Definitely not AS good, but Lamar and Hurts would still have solid weapons and they would have other RB's step up.

If any of the big name QB's get injured, those teams are toast.

I do think that for some voters, there will be consideration given to the fact that Josh has been consistently doing incredible things over the past several years.  Combine that with Josh continuing to win a lot of games this season in spite of lowered expectations, limiting turnovers, and having these MVP moments, there’s a lot of positive narrative to where he’ll finally earn it this season.

Mahomes is still a dark horse in my mind. Similar stats to Allen, but with 4 more turnovers. If the Bills falter and drop a couple games it could get close. He has 11 TDs, 2 INT, and 100 passer rating over the last 5 games.

It’s Allen’s to lose right now, but he still needs to finish strong.

Lamar Jackson is just getting his bye week now.

Josh Allen also has about a half-dozen games this year where he didn't even play in the 4th Quarter.

I’m not sure how being on pace for 4400 tot yards, 37 total TDs, 7 INTs and 100 rating are very aggressively mediocre, I guess by Josh Allen standards,

I read his comment and it did not occur to me how absurd my expectations for him have become, because it feels anything less than historical is mediocre.

Yeah I think we’ve all become numb to the how rare these seasons are back to back to back to back to back.

We gotta remind ourselves just how ridiculous these seasons are that Allen is posting.

Allen now down to between -400 to -500 for MVP after today's performance.

Well now he is on pace for 43 TDs after today's game, so could easily be his 5th straight 40+ TD season, extending his own record.

I Definitely feel like he’s breaking 40TDs after today’s performance to extend his record to 5 straight seasons, the only question is how many can he get with 4 games to go.

I also just noticed that Allen now leads the NFL with 33 total TDs and only 5 INTs, 7 total turnovers

crazy
