Passer rating (9th), AY/A (6th), ANY/A (3rd), Passing TD (9th), Passing yards (11th), Y/Q (7th),...etc., etc.

I mean, those were legit stats 20 years ago. Have fun with those. Granted, you managed to point out “other stats” so…congrats?

Listing passer rating legit makes me 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Edit: and I assume by "less than elite" you mean "less than his contemporaries."

No, I mean what I said - less than elite. As in he has the best EPA in the NFL and does not have such a ridiculously good supporting cast that we should wonder if the EPA is inflated by other factors. I think it's more than fair to agree that his EPA actually represents his own value to the team. And in fact my opinion is that his supporting cast deflates his EPA slightly, but if you don't agree with that it's fine, it's not overly relevant to this conversation.

So I again will affirm that Allen has the best statistical case in the NFL. Do I think MVP voters actually look at EPA? Probably not for most of them. I'm just talking about the actual definition of MVP and why I think Allen fits that definition.

Just combine Jim Carrey's QB STEW for stats.  Then compare the candidates record and the quality of help around him.  If you did that it's pretty easy to conclude that Allen is the MVP.

They stick the Ravens on the National TV late afternoon Saturday game.  So the world can watch Lamar’s brilliance vs 3-13 Cleveland. while Allen sits.

Lamar fans online talking about MVP are just toxic. Hoping they somehow lose the division next weekend.

There is some Jets fan on my company Slack "Random" channel who just trolls and spams with pro-Lamar content. So much of it is just hype stuff with no real concrete argument. He didn't like when I asked him why, as a resident New Yorker, he roots for a team that moved to New Jersey.

Plus, Steelers will have option of whether to rest their starters against Bengals or go for the five seed.  Thanks Goodell.

Bills record 13-3 locked up 2nd seed.

Ravens record 11-5 and haven’t locked up their division despite the addition of Henry.  They also have a worse record than last year despite the addition of Henry.

Josh is the MVP.

Whom they already lost to once this season.

Lamar isn't even the MVP of his team, Henry is

Sorry, misread the screen on my phone! Now on my laptop so can see the breakdown better.

TOTAL average yards allowed per game: Ravens (14th) 330.1; Bills (23rd) 347.7

Average passing yards allowed per game: Ravens 248.5; Bills 229.5

Average rush yards allowed per game: Ravens 81.6; Bills 118.3

The argument stands, though, with one defense being more porous than the other.

I almost forget the conversation BECAUSE I WENT TO MY FIRST BILLS GAME TODAY!!! AND IM WRITING A NOVEL ABOUT THAT EXPERIENCE SOON ENOUGH

I would ALWAYS take the Ravens defense over what the Bills have had year in year out since… Schwartz, actually. You?

^^^ but I always think that it’s more coaching than personal, with the caveat of the Ravens being so strong straight up the middle—nose-> MLB-> FS/SS. I don’t know if that’s even true or not, but I’m a feel person and I don’t need a bunch of analytics to prove a point that I’d prefer coming around to with my eyes… Analytics is great for breaking down the past. I believe it’s no more effective serving as a predictor as licking your thumb to find the wind.

I'll say congrats on your Bills game pilgrimage today!

As for your post, maybe the "novel" (that I'm here for) should be written tomorrow.

For the record, I would vote Josh MVP. He's the best. I'm just highlighting the fact that his statistical case isn't exactly ironclad.

Neither was Lamar's last year. But that didn't matter. But for some reason this year it does matter?

That incomplete pass to Coleman and the one to Shakir off one foot(how does that even ***** work), Allen's best passes this game didn't even count.

Besides showcasing Lamar against the awful Browns in a national game.  It is unfair to not have the Steelers and Ravens games at the same time in Sunday.  Big benefit to Pitt who could choose to rest their starters (they might want to still play them to get Houston first round) and Cinci if Pitt does rest their starters.

If Pitt rests their starters so that they end up with the 6 seed and a rematch with Ravens, I’m okay with that.  Not really worried if the Bengals win, because it’d be a shocker if both the Broncos and Dolphins lose.

I disagree with that. I think Josh is the MVP but Lamar is legit #2 to me. He's had an incredible year and is an incredible player.
