The problem as I see it is that almost no one, in hindsight, views Lamar’s performance last year as MVP worthy. But it happened and to self-correct they now have the ammunition to justify Lamar as MVP again. The moving goal posts are frustrating to Allen proponents. Some voters don’t want to just give it to Josh because it muddies the waters further. They probably see this self correction as being required to keep things on (or back on) the right track, even if it means Lamar has 3, knowing Josh will get one some year.

Yeah last year is the issue. Lamar and Josh are both extremely deserving this season.

Last year, nobody was really deserving and it seemed to break voters' brains.

Does it really or do the talking heads just point out mistakes these days more then ever? If you watch games last year you would see a lot of INTs weren’t always Joshs fault. But these ***** idiots who they put on TV to talk about football have an opinion, and when a stat helps prove their opinion it’s like they don’t even watch the game to see what really happened.

If Allen had Henry in his backfield putting up huge numbers and great numbers himself, there is no ***** way these twats  would be pushing for Allen as MVP. Not a ***** chance. Lamar gets more hype then any QB I ever seen, 8 all pros on the team and they somehow think he’s more valuable to the Ravens then Josh is to the Bills… Yeah ok

He gets the hype because he’s really good and has been since he’s been in the league. This message board reminds me of finheaven…..constantly downing the other QB(Allen) just to make you feel better about your QB(Tua). We are allowed to admit LJ is elite and having a better season than Josh Allen….doesnt mean we’re lesser Bills fans!

Lamar took the top team in the Conference from last year, added Derrick Henry and ended up the 3 seed.

Josh took a team everybody said was going to take a big step back, “had no weapons”, and “the window had closed on them”, to 13 wins, easily could’ve been 14, with Ws over BOTH 1 seeds, and finished once again with as the 2 seed.

Both offenses scored exactly 65 touchdowns. Josh is going to get penalized for letting Cook eat a little bit this year?

Nah. I don’t think so.

One way or another Josh was responsible for orchestrating all those TD drives, and while Cook is a nice piece, nobody is Derrick Henry.

Simply put, as great a season Lamar had, he added the King, and the Ravens still took a step back in the regular season compared to last year. They fell short of expectations whereas Josh and the Bills exceeded them by every measure.

As for last season, the picks were wayyyy overblown. Context is key, a good % of Josh’s picks were simply him chucking it up on 3rd & forever, which situationally was basically the same as a punt. The picks shouldn’t have over shadowed his Herculean effort down the stretch last season to get the team from on the fringe of the post season all the way up to the 2 seed.

The picks happened and you don’t win MVP throwing 18 picks. Doesn’t matter how overblown they were….they happened and you lose MVP’s because of them.

So stupid. So don’t watch the games and see how it plays out, look at the stat sheet. Thanks for your input.

Watch Lamar and Mahommes throw numerous pick sixes or fumbles for TDs last year but nobody gives a ***** that they are more of a negative play than just a regular turnover. Watch the games, make an opinion. Lamar fumbles in OT this year deep in his end, is that an MVP play? No one even mentions it in the media. It’s just brushed off as usual. If that was Josh we’d still be listening to it. ***** I hear some of the talking heads go on about Allen’s turnovers come playoff time like

they never even watched him play in the playoffs.

The talking head narrative in the media has a big outcome on these awards, you might not want to admit it but it’s the truth. Someone posted a few years ago Lamar got voted for pro bowl over Josh when Josh almost had double the amount of TDs. Explain that

I’m sick of the MVP discord. If CMC won it last year, I’d absolutely be on board with Lamar winning it this year. But last year, Lamar’s stats were mediocre but the whole team functioned extremely well.

Based on that criteria I think Josh should win it this year. But I don’t know how media members can just change the rules on their criteria year to year. Unbelievable. I actually wish NFL scouts, GMs and HCs made the MVP vote.

Talk about overrated. Lamar is on the doorstep of winning his third MVP and hasn’t done squat in the playoffs. That is the epitome of being overrated.

Last year has no bearing on being MVP this year... (other than voter fatigue).

If you think Lamar's stats are a mirage, you haven't actually watched him play. His plays have been AMAZING. Much more impressive than even his 2019 season. His pocket awareness was absurd this year. So many times he was forced from the pocket and has decided NOT to run it like he used too but then launches amazing TD's instead.

The stats he has earned have been just as impressive as Allen. I think Allen probably should get the MVP, and Lamar is my favorite player ever... I mostly think that because he shouldn't have gotten MVP last year. Was unearned. Probably should have been Dak Prescott. But it's pointless to act like he hasn't been in the same league as Allen with how impressive his play is in the process of getting those stats.

They look amazing. I every time I watch him he’s throwing to wide open WRs all over the field

It's almost like he ran around behind the line of scrimmage for a good fifteen seconds, making defenders miss the sack, until the receivers make their fifth change of direction to get wide open. It's kind of hard to guard a receiver who's ran their route and started improvising.

The Pro Bowl is voted on by fans.  That explains the entire thing.

The MVP vote happens before the playoffs,  so playoff records have no bearing on the vote.

Their vote counts for 1/3.

Good post.  Both guys are very deserving. Lamar with the better stats and the head to head win. No doubt that he is an elite passer now. But I also think he has the better supporting cast.  Josh did a ton this year without much elite talent (outside of Cook).  Just a very tough vote this year.

Here's to an entertaining, hard fought game next weekend.

I will say this: as much as I want Josh to win the MVP, and, as much as I want us to win a superbowl (and I would give away my third kidney for that), more than even any of that - I just want to see Josh Allen play in a Super Bowl.  In my lifetime.  It would be the most epic TV event of my life.

No player has ever existed whose been epic enough to match the magnitude of the Super Bowl... until Josh Allen.

Looks like Lamar Jackson will get his 3rd League NFL MVP. That's fine. Go ahead. Congrats.

Let's see what happens if we meet next weekend.

I keep seeing this everywhere, but the Vegas odds havent moved off of Josh (yet at least). So I dont get it, because Vegas isnt in the business of losing money. If anyone is positive that Lamar is going to win, then there is some money to be made. You can get Lamar at +300 on DK.

No you can't. Those are old odds. Sportsbooks took them down after all pro was released and likely won't be offering them again.
