Narrative on NFLN is that Lamar was MVP in the game with an 88-yard MVP drive but his teammates let him down. And also he didn't have his #1 receiving weapon so we shouldn't hold his "two boo-boos" (Direct quote I kid you not) against him.

Should’ve had three and a chunk less yards while were playing the what if game lol…one of those deep completions he threw pretty much right to Hamlin who misjudged it.  If we’re gonna undo an Andrews fumble that play easily could’ve gone the other way too

Here’s a fun one from Florio a year ago, arguing that stats shouldn’t dictate MVP OR 1st team All-Pro QB:

https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/some-voters-consider-picking-lamar-jackson-as-nfl-mvp-but-not-as-first-team-all-pro-quarterback

Yet here is Florio touting Lamar as PFT’s MVP this season, because of his stats:

https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/pfts-2024-nfl-most-valuable-player-lamar-jackson

Seems like he’s contradicting himself, if you ask me.

Ryan Clark is such a clown. Everything he said in the 2nd video from last January about what we "don't say" about Lamar, is exactly what he's saying now about Lamar

To be fair, he also posted this last night, but it's really just hedging because he knows he's full of *****:

Thats because people like Marcellus Wiley call out his obvious bait

Well, if anyone had told me they could either win MVP or win that game last night, i’d take the game. MVP is whatever at this point. The ESPN faction of voters likely swung it to Lamar.  CBS affiliated voters held firm with Allen.  The rest will be a mix.

My biggest concern was Josh struggling and losing to the Ravens, with Lamar playing lights out - and then winning MVP. The brickbats he would have got would have been unbearable.

Whereas Lamar... well, he can turnover the ball twice and still not be criticised so he'll be fine whatever.

Hamlin was in a tough position there. He was in total conflict between two receivers with a lot of ground between them. The other guy was wide open too with no one on him. He was in a no win situation there if you rewatch the play. I'm assuming you are talking about that deep throw down the middle of the field.

Josh Allen, Saquon Barkley, Joe Burrow, Jared Goff and Lamar Jackson are finalists for The Associated Press 2024 NFL Most Valuable Player award.

How do they determine the finalists?  They count up the votes and send the 1-5 points getters?

Not sure, Jamie Erdahl just announced them on NFL Network.

It seems like the goalposts are moved yearly to give him the award.

Not only did they have to move the goalposts but now they have to fight hard to defend why their 3 time mvp has only advanced past the divisional round once.

Well PFWA has voted Lamar MVP. Have to go back to 2003 for the last time the AP and PFWA MVP award were different players.

If Lamar wins, it’s because Raven fans are bigger crybabies.  They went all out in their PR campaign the couple weeks while their team was still trying to win the division.  The irony is because they didn’t wrap up their division until Week 18, Zay Flowers then got hurt and that may have been the difference the other night.

I feel like the hope is some of the AP voters proactively split their votes for all pro and mvp to recognize both guys so I’m not sure this diminishes the pretty low odds any further..  it certainly doesn’t help though 😂

Who comprises the PFWA?  Any of the actual MVP voters?

If the Bills org was like the Ravens org, they would have let Allen add like 6 TDs and 300 yards to his totals by throwing all over the Jags and Dolphins in the second half earlier in the year.

They also probably would have done a huge PR initiative where they got every talking head to discuss how Allen played the first half of the season with a broken hand.

The Ravens didn’t do that last year. It’s why Gus “Freaking” Edwards had 15 tds.

Allen was better this year with less gaudy stats. He is going to win the award. But I kinda hate the award now.

also, someone needs to explain why Jayden Daniels isn’t in the conversation? He literally completely changed a franchise’s trajectory. The MVP award has jumped the shark.

Yea that’s fair too…I’m not inside his brain so I can’t say for sure.  From my view up in the 300s it looked like he was completely sellin out for the int the way he was tracking the ball the whole way and he just completely misjudged it. I was watching him the whole time for whatever reason haha. Looked like he was lining up a punt return and at the last second was like ‘sh*t it’s over my head’
