It’s not clear Jackson is MVP of the Ravens vs. Henry.  But it is clear Josh is that for the bills

True, and yet somehow Lamar is #1 with a gaudy 121.6 QB rating while Allen is way down at #10 with a 101.2 rating.  I don’t know if voters will factor in the crappy late season Orchard Park weather or the Derrick Henry affect on Lamar’s passing numbers

What a complete loser's mentality.

Nah, a loser’s mentality is sticking with McDermott and expecting different results simply because we win the watered-down AFC East every season.

Let me know how you feel when we get bounced from the playoffs again by the first good team we face.

When you are throwing to college wide open receivers it makes it a lot easier.

They said on the broadcast today that Lamar throws to the most open receivers in the league. So that’s why it’s easier for him to complete passes because he doesn’t have to make nearly as hard or tough as throws as Allen or Mahomes makes.

The issue is partially last year. Last year stats didn't matter - they came second to record. Now it seems like stats do matter. I think most just want the voters to be consistent, rather than meddle with their approach to get the result they want.

Josh threw 18 picks last year.  I'm not advocating for Lamar because he obviously has a better supporting cast but he only threw four picks this year.  I don't see it as an apples to apples comparison.

If Lamar wins the division, which they probably will, he will probably get it yet again. Josh will get the snub for a guy that throws 10 completions to guys wider open than college receivers. 66 air yards and gets 168 yards out of it.

You get high ratings when you only complete 10 passes in games while only throwing 15 passes total and those go to WR so far open the defenders might as well not be on the field because they get another 20+ yac.

Here's the latest odds.  Josh still the favorite.  Vegas usually has insider information so who knows.  Josh needs a strong game Sunday and obviously a victory.

Sunday is still a must-win to secure #2 seed. But I really get the sense there is a push to deny Allen the recognition of an MVP award by over-inflating Jackson's accomplishments and diminishing Allen's. Even the yard stick changes ever year away from Josh and towards Jackson. One year stats don't matter. The next they do.

Any award that’s voted on will get skewed to whatever the voters deem exciting that year.  Josh is having a great year and doing more with less.  Jackson is absolutely stuffing the stat sheet.  If you take it all in a vacuum, Jackson is having the best season, in context Josh is more Valuable to his team.   The biggest problem for JA is playing in Buffalo, the last month of the season is always garbage weather and stats get deflated, then the recency bias comes into play.   He needs to light the Jets up Sunday.

But play Allen in week 18 and go for the MVP. The very injured guys can rest. Patriots aren't going to fool us twice.

A better argument might be, rest Allen in week 18 and get BTFO'd the ***** out by the Patriots. Illustrate the difference between Allen and next-man-up.

Lamar deserves it more than ever but he didn't deserve it the first two times he got it.

This is likely the starters final game before playoffs.  As others have said, Allen needs to stuff the stat sheet vs the Jets.  If he does, he will have a great chance to win MVP.

We don’t want to string together 3 and outs during the first Qtr again.

Jackson is not even the MVP on his own team.  Look what happens when Henry gets bottled up...Lamar turns into La"mew" and they lose to 2 teams with a combined 3-24 record versus the rest of the NFL and then against Pittsburgh the first game they lose to a team that doesn't even score a TD.  Amazing that he looks good in the second game where Henry goes off. Coincidental? I think not.

A losers mentality is expecting to lose before the game is played, which is exactly what you did in your post.   Stop acting like they only play the Dolphins, Jets and Patriots every year.    They haven't won the big one yet but they have been successful.  Only one team wins the Superbowl.

What is La"mew"? Are we saying Lamar turns into a cat? Is that bad? Isn't Lamar kind of already like a cat? Are we saying he turns into a ***** cat (sans the word cat)? Or are we saying that he turns into Lemieux and is suddenly very good at hockey?

Tired of the MVP talk - there are enough uncertainties in a season to worry about.  Why add in another one controlled by sports journalist morons and NFL "experts"?

I would love to see Allen get it but would much rather see success in the playoffs.  Oftentimes saying "I told you so" is more satisfying then enjoying the original success.

So this is my last comment on the process.  According to the odds for MVP:

Allen

Jackson

Barkley

Goff

Burrow

Are the top 5.

In the last 4 weeks Allen & Jackson solidified their hold at the top with impressive performances against Division leading opponents on national TV.  For Allen, the key skill players in the games were Cook (105 rushing yards vs Rams) & Johnson (114 receiving yards vs Lions).  Jackson's leading skill player was King Henry with 162 & 147 yards rushing respectively.

BTW, King Henry should be a top 5 MVP candidate with 1783 yards rushing (his 2nd best season ever). The simple fact is that by any objective standard Jackson is partnering with a top 5 MVP level skill player while Allen is not. And this is why I would give Allen the MVP.
